Sebagai perwujudan dan sarana komunikasi ilmiah secara langsung bagi para mahasiswa, dosen, teknisi, perencana, dan pemakai jasa, Program Studi Pascasarjana Teknik Sipil FTSP-ITS telah melaksanakan salah satu kegiatan akademik yang berupa Seminar Nasional. Seminar Nasional Program Studi Pascasarjana Teknik Sipil FTSP-ITS telah terprogram sebagai agenda kegiatan akademik yang terjadwal pada setiap tahun.
Dengan munculnya berbagai macam masalah yang diakibatkan oleh bencana alam yang mengakibatkan kerusakan-kerusakan pada infrastruktur di daerah-daerah hampir seluruh
wilayah Indonesia pada akhir-akhir ini, maka pada kali ini Seminar Nasional Teknik Sipil II tahun 2006 mengangkat tema “Peran Rekayasa Sipil Dalam Menunjang Pembangunan Infrastruktur Terpadu”. Seminar ini bertujuan untuk menyebar luaskan: hasil-hasil penelitian populain inovatif, penemuan-penemuan baru dalam IPTEK baik dalam bentuk
konsep-konsep ataupun terapan kasus-kasus infrastruktur pada khususnya dan bidang
teknik sipil pada umumnya. Konsistensi dari kegiatan seminar perlu mendapatkan dukungan dari semua pihak yang terkait, untuk mendapatkan suatu hasil yang lengkap dan sempurna, sehingga memberikan daya guna yang efektif dalam penyusunan perencanaan struktur dibidang teknik sipil, lebih-lebih dalam suasana yang serba kompetitif pada era globalisasi seperti sekarang ini.
