KESETIMBANGAN FASA UAP-CAIR SISTEM LARUTAN ELEKTROLIT CO2-K2CO3-DEA-H2O

ABSTRAK

Proses absorpsi disertai reaksi kimia gas CO2 memakai larutan K2CO3 atau hot potassium carbonate dan bahan aktivator seperti DEA Diethanolamine sangat luas dipakai di Industri Kimia untuk pemisahan gas CO2 dari gas proses. Salah satu proses CO2 removal yang umum diaplikasikan di industri adalah proses Benfield proses ini terdiri dari proses absorpsi dan proses stripping gas CO2. Data kesetimbangan fasa uap-cair sistem CO2-K2CO3-DEA-H2O sangat dibutuhkan untuk perancangan yang rasional dan operasi yang optimal dari unit-unit CO2 removal. Pada penelitian ini data kesetimbangan fasa uap-cair sistem CO2-K2CO3-DEA-H2O ditentukan dengan memakai metode kolom absorpsi tipe wetted wall column. Untuk mengetahui kehandalan metode ini dilakukan dengan uji validasi data hasil eksperimen dengan data dari hasil penelitian oleh Cullinane et al 2003. Hasil eksperimen menunjukan bahwa kenaikan konsentrasi CO2 dalam gas umpan pada temperatur konstan akan menyebabkan kenaikan CO2 loading kenaikan kelarutan CO2 kenaikan tekanan kesetimbangan CO2 dan penurunan tekanan kesetimbangan H2O. Pada CO2 loading yang sama kenaikan temperatur sistem akan menyebabkan penurunan kelarutan gas CO2 kenaikan tekanan kesetimbangan CO2 dan kenaikan tekanan kesetimbangan H2O. Data hasil eksperimen juga dikorelasikan dengan model Electrolyte Non-Random Two Liquids ENRTL dengan deviasi absolut rerata AAD antara data tekanan kesetimbangan hasil eksperimen terhadap data tekanan kesetimbangan hasil estimasi yaitu sebesar 225 untuk CO2 dan 133 untuk H2O.


ABSTRACT

Absorption with chemical reaction process of CO2 gas using solution K2CO3 or known as hot potassium carbonate and an activator agent i.e DEA Diethanolamine was widely used in many Chemical Industries for separation of CO2 from process gases. One of the CO2 removal processes which was widely applied in many industries was the Benfield process. The process was generally consist of CO2 Absorption Process and Stripping Process. Vapor-liquid phase equilibrium data of CO2-K2CO3-DEA-H2O system were necessary for rational design and optimum operation of the CO2 removal unit. In this work Vapor-liquid phase equilibrium data of CO2-K2CO3-DEA-H2O system were determined using the wetted wall column method. The reliability of the method was validated by comparing data from this work with data from previous research by Cullinane et al2003. The results show that increasing CO2 concentration in feed gas at constant temperature will increase CO2 loading increase CO2 solubility increase CO2 equilibrium pressure and decrease H2O equilibrium pressure. At the same CO2 loading increasing of temperature will decrease CO2 solubility increase CO2 equilibrium pressure and increase H2O equilibrium pressure. The experimental data obtained from this work were also correlated with ENRTL Electrolyte Non- Random Two Liquids model with the average absolute deviations AAD between experimental equilibrium pressure data and calculated equilibrium pressure data were 225 for CO2 and 133 for H2O.
