ABSTRAK

Proses electro discharge machining EDM termasuk proses pemesinan non konvensional yang menggunakan loncatan bunga api listrik spark dimana pahat tidak kontak langsung dan tidak harus lebih keras dengan benda kerja yang dikerjakan. Performansi proses EDM sangat dipengaruhi oleh parameter cutting diantaranya adalah tegangan dari catu daya supply voltage karakteristik elektroda dan karakteristik fluida dielektriknya. Pada industri manufaktur proses ini sangat penting untuk mengerjakan logam paduan logam yang sangat keras maupun benda kerja dengan bentuk permukaan yang rumit. Proses spark akan menghasilkan respon berupa diameter kawah Material Removal Rate MRR Elektrode Wear Rate EWR volumetric wear ratio VWR. Proses permesinan yang baik ditentukan oleh respon yang bersesuaian dengan tujuan yang direncanakan respon tersebut sangat dipengaruhi oleh variasi parameter kapasitor dan tegangan. Bagaimanakah kombinasi antara besar tegangan dan kapasitansi kapasitor dalam menentukan respon yang bersesuaian dengan tujuan proses pemesinan adalah masalah yang menarik untuk diteliti. Penelitian ini dibagi menjadi 2 tahap pengujian yaitu pertama pengujian pembentukan kawah dan kedua pengujian performansi proses drilling menggunakan mesin EDM dengan spark generator tipe relaksasi yaitu performasi kualitatif dan performasi kuantitatif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan fluida dielektrik solar dan elektroda dari tembaga pada variasi tegangan 280 volt 340 volt 420 volt dan 580 volt. Variasi kapasitansi kapasitor yang diteliti adalah 7 variasi yaitu 16.5 F 34 F 75 F 110 F 235 F 340 F dan 500 F. Hasil pengujian pembentukan kawah berdasarkan pengaruh variasi kapasitansi dan tegangan didapat bahwa kenaikan kapasitansi kapasitor dari 16.5 500 F untuk tegangan 280 volt diperoleh diameter kawah 0.868 1.698 mm untuk tegangan 340 volt diperoleh diameter kawah 1.074 2.162 mm untuk tegangan 420 volt diperoleh diameter kawah 1.074 2.162 mm dan untuk tegangan 580 volt diperoleh diameter kawah 1.474 3.332 mm. Hasil pengujian performasi performansi kuantitatif menunjukkan MRR dan EWR naik dengan naiknya kapasitansi kapasitor untuk tegangan 280 volt diperoleh MRR 2.0978 8.1420 mmmenit dan EWR 1.1930 4.7206 mmmenit untuk tegangan 340 volt diperoleh MRR 2.2984 9.6257 mmmenit dan EWR 1.2905 5.700 mmmenit untuk tegangan 420 volt diperoleh MRR 2.5945 12.4840 mmmenit dan EWR 1.4652 7.4584 mmmenit serta untuk tegangan 580 volt diperoleh MRR 3.2519 15.0029 mmmenit dan EWR 1.6958 8.6239 mmmenit . Performasi kualitatif ditinjau dari overcut lubang hasil drilling menunjukkan fungsi untuk tegangan 280 volt nilai overcut 0.101 0.160 mm untuk tegangan 340 volt diperoleh nilai overcut 0.103 0.179 mm untuk tegangan 420 volt diperoleh nilai overcut 0.135 0.215 mm dan untuk tegangan 580 volt diperoleh nilai overcut 0.158 0.259 mm sedangkan control proses berupa VWR turun secara linear dengan naiknya kapasitansi kapasitor untuk masing-masing parameter tegangan.


ABSTRACT

The process of electro-discharge machining EDM including non-conventional machining process that uses an electric spark spark where the chisel is not and does not have direct contact with the workpiece harder done. EDM process performance is strongly influenced by cutting parameters such as the voltage of the power supply supply voltage the characteristics of the electrode and dielectric fluid characteristics. In the process manufacturing industry is very important for working metal metal alloy very hard and the workpiece surface with a complex shape. The process will generate a response in the form of a spark crater diameter Material Removal Rate MRR Electrode Wear Rate EWR volumetric wear ratio VWR. Good machining process is determined by the response corresponding to the planned destination the response is greatly influenced by parameters of capacitors and voltage variations. How big a combination of voltage and capacitance of capacitors in determining the response corresponding to the purpose of machining process is an interesting problem to be studied. This study is divided into two stages ie first testing crater formation testing and performance testing of both drilling process using EDM machine with a relaxation-type spark generator is performasi qualitative and quantitative performasi. The study was conducted by using a dielectric fluid and diesel fuel electrode of copper on voltage variation 280 volts 340 volts 420 volts 580 volts. Variation of capacitance capacitors studied were 7 variation is 16.5 F 34 F 75 F 110 F 235 F 340 F and 500 F. Test results based on the influence of crater formation capacitance and voltage variations obtained that the increase in the capacitance of the capacitor is 16.5 - 500 F to 280 volt voltage obtained crater diameter 0868-1698 mm voltage of 340 volts is obtained for the crater diameter 1074-2162 mm for a voltage of 420 volts is obtained diameter crater 1074-2162 mm and for 580 volt voltage obtained crater diameter 1474-3332 mm. Test results performasi performance quantitatively demonstrate MRR and EWR rose with increasing capacitance capacitors for voltage 280 volts obtained MRR 2.0978 - 8.1420 mm min and EWR 1.1930 - 4.7206 mm min for the voltage 340 volts obtained MRR 2.2984 - 9.6257 mm min and EWR 1.2905 - 5700 mm min for the voltage 420 volts obtained MRR 2.5945 - 12.4840 mm min and EWR 1.4652-7.4584 mm min as well as for the voltage 580 volts obtained MRR 3.2519 - 15.0029 mm min and EWR 1.6958 - 8.6239 mm min. Performasi qualitative review of overcut hole drilling results indicate a function for the voltage 280 volts overcut value of 0101-0160 mm for 340 volt voltage values obtained overcut 0103-0179 mm for a voltage of 420 volts is obtained overcut value of 0135-0215 mm and for the voltage 580 volts values obtained overcut 0158-0259 mm and a process control VWR down linearly with the increase in capacitance for each capacitor voltage parameter.
