STUDI EKSPERIMEN PERPINDAHAN PANAS PADA PENGERING JAGUNG TIPE RUMAH KACA DENGAN DUA CEROBONG PENGHAWAAN

EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES ON HEAT TRANSFER OF SOLAR GREENHOUSE CORN DRYER WITH TWO CIRCULATION DUCTS

ABSTRAK

Pengeringan konvensional memiki kelemahan pada proses pengeringan diantaranya waktu pengeringan yang lama dan cuaca buruk. Untuk itu diperlukan perancangan alat pengering untuk wilayah Gorontalo untuk meningkatkan kualitas hasil panen jagung. Pengering efek rumah kaca memiliki 3 bagian utama yaitu ruang pengering variasi bak pengering dan variasi bukaan cerobong. Dimensi dari pengering ini adalah panjang 1 m lebar 08 m tinggi 06 m tebal kaca 5 mm tebal plat alumunium 3 mm sudut kemiringan atap 60730 dan cerobong berdiameter 100 mm dengan tinggi 300 mm yang terbuat dari bahan pipa pvc. Mekanisme pembuatan alat ini terdiri dari evaluasi desain persiapan alat dan bahan pengerjaan alat dan pengujian alat. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan pengering terbaik adalah pada variasi 6 dengan bak pengering alumunium dan bukaan 100 pada cerobong 2 dengan hasil untuk pengeringan 5 kg jagung pipilan yang diujicobakan membutuhkan waktu 9 jam waktu pengeringan. Suhu ruang tertinggi adalah 730C63 kadar air se telah pengujian menjadi 129 dari kadar air awal 207 massa akhir jagung adalah 31 kg dari massa awal 5 kg Q evaporasi adalah 4212.143269 Jm.s Mev adalah 1866.2575 gram dan efisiensi alat pengering yaitu 11 akan tetapi untuk efisiensi pengeringan terbaik adalah pada variasi 2 yang menggunakan bak kaca bukaan 100 dengan nilai efisiensi 21 dan laju aliran udara di dalam sistem pengering pada variasi 6 adalah 3.5 ms.


ABSTRACT

Conventional drying has several disadvantages such as time consuming and its dependence in weather. Based on these reasons we designed a dryer equipment which is needed in Gorontalo district for improving corn quality. The dryer employs greenhouse type consisting of 3 main components i.e. drying chamber dryer bed variation and opening of duct variation. The dryer has dimension of 1m in length 08 m in width 06 in height 5 mm of glass thickness 3 mm of aluminium thickness 60 o in roof angle and 100 mm ducts diameter with 300 mm in height made of PVC tubes. The result showed that the best dryer performance is on 6th variation with aluminium as dryers bed material and 100 opening of the lower duct. It was shown that for 5kg corn grains it only requires 9 hours of drying period to achieve 12.9 water content reaching the SNI-01-03920-1995 standard. The corn grains weight is changed from 5 kg prior to drying process to 3.1 kg. The highest temperature of chamber is 63730C. The heat of evaporation Q was calculated and the value is 4212.143269 Jm.s and the evaporated mass Mev is 1866.2575 gram. The best dryer efficiency is about 11 with air flow rate of 3.5 ms while the best drying process efficiency is 21 for 2nd variation which uses 100 opening of lower duct.
