BIOASSESSMENT PENCEMARAN AIR DI EKOSISTEM KALI SURABAYA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN IKAN

WATER QUALITY BIOASSESSMENT OF SURABAYA RIVER ECOSYSTEM USING FISH

ABSTRAK

Ekosistem Kali Surabaya digunakan untuk berbagai kepentingan diantaranya sebagai tempal pembuangan limbah industri dan domestikserta sebagai bahan baku air minum bagi penduduk kota Surabaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tingkat pencemaran berdasarkan parameter flsika-kimia air dan sedimen menginventarisasi jenis-jenis ikan menentukan kelayakan penggunaan bioassessment dengan ikan serta menerapkan bioassesstnent untuk menentukan kualitas air di ekosistem Kali Surabaya. Penetitian ini diawali dengan pengambilan sampel ikan memakaijala yang dilanjutkan dengan pengambilan sampel air dan sedimen. Selanjutnya menentukan kualitasfisika-kbnia airyang didukung oleh indeks Prati. Penentuan tingkat pencemaran ekosistem Kati Surabaya menggunakan ikan dihitung dengan indeks keanekaragaman indeks kelimpahan indeks dominansi dan status nutrisi ikan nutrhion value coefficient. Kelayakan ketiga indeks biologis dan NVC dihitung secara statistik dengan uji korelasi Pearson terhadap parameter fisika-kimia air. Dari hasil uji korelasi pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketiga indeks biologis tersebut tidak berkorelasi signifikan dengan kualitas fisika-Mmia air. Hasil uji koreiasi menunjukkan hubungan positif antara NVC dengan total fosfat r 0.53 n 26 dan hubungan negatif dengan total nitrogen r -0.58 n 26 dengan nilaiyangsignifikan a 0.01. Hal ini mempunyai arti bahwa ketiga indeks biologis dan NVC hanya dapat digunakan untuk menilai kualitas air bila disertai data kualitas fisika-kmda air. Melalui Cluster Anafysis dengan menggunakan nilcti NVC didapatkan 4 cluster yang memiliki karakteristik kualitas air secara spesifik Seluruh lokasi sampling terbagi menjadi lokasi-lokasiyang terkontaminasi sampai tercemar ringan. Cluster 1 terdiri atas Canggu Perning Jrebeng dan Cangkir yang merupakan lokasi terkontaminasi cluster2 mencakup lokasi Petekan outlier yang terkontaminasi dan cluster 3 outlier meliputi Bambe yang merupakan lokasi paling tercemar. Cluster 4 terdiri dari lokasi Karang Pilang Sepanjang Gunung Sari dan Jagir yang dikategorikan bersih. Hasil cluster anafysisdapatdigunakan sebagai contoh masukan untuk menyusun strategi pengelolaan kualitas air di ekosistem Kali Surabaya


ABSTRACT

The growth of industrial and human settlement along Surabaya river ecosystem has caused a signiflcant impact to water quality due to uncontrolled waste discharge. In contrast Surabaya community use Surabaya river water as teh sourcefor drinldng water. This research is aimed to determine pollution level ofthe Surabaya River water auality based on physical-chemical parameters to collect data on fish species living along the river to determine the most proper flsh bioassessment methods and to apply bioassessment methodsfor determining thepollution level ofSurabaya river ecosystem. Fish was collected usingflsh net water samples were collected based on standard methods and river sediment was collected using grab sampler. Afterwards physical-chemical pollution level was determined using Prati index. Determination ofwater pollution usingfish was calculated with diversity richnes dominance indices and nutrition value coefflcient NVC. Furthermore correlation between physical-chemical parameters and the biological indices were calculated according to Pearson s Correlation. This research concludes that the biological indices with exception on NVC are not correlated with physical-chemical parameters significantly. Additionally Pearson s ccrrelation test showed that NVC values had significant possitive correlation with total phosphate r 0.53 n 26 and significant negative correlation with total nitrogen r -0.. 58 n 26. This result means that these biological indices can be usedfor assessing water auality only if physical-chemical water quality data are included Statistical analysis using cluster anafysis based on NVC values resulted in four cluster ofsampling locations each ofwhich has a specific water quality. In principle all locations were divided into two main groups. One group was contamtnated and the other was slightfy polluted. Cluster 1 comprising Canggu Perning Jrebeng and Cangkir were classified as a contaminated locations. Cluster 2 outlier which was consisted ofPetekan Surabaya was classified as a contaminated location. Cluster 3 outlier consisting of Bambe Gresik which was slightfy polluted location. Cluster 4 comprising Karang Pilang Sepanjang Gummg Sari and Jagir were classified as a clean locations. The result of cluster anafysis can be used as an inputfor determination of water quality management strategy at Surabaya River ecosystem
