ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kekuatan adhesive bonding pada tipe sambungan semi circular overlap joint dibandingkan dengan overlap joint dan sambungan paku keling double-rivetted. Kekuatan sambungan didapatkan dari hasil uji tarik dan diverifikasi dengan analisa distribusi tegangan dengan menggunakan metode elemen hingga. Uji tarik dilakukan pada spesimen dari masing-masing tipe sambungan material pelat alumunium Al 5083 dan epoxy resin adhesivenya. Spesimen sambungan adhesive bonding overtap joint dibuat pada tekanan torsi pada saat bonding masing-masing sebesar 2 Nm 4Nm dan 5Nm dan pada sambungan semi circular overlap joint sebesar 2 Nm Untuk analisa metode elemen hingga model sambungan akan dibagi dalam 3 lapisan yaitu dua lapisan logam alumunium dengan diselingi oleh lapisan adhesive dan analisa dilakukan dalam model 2 dimensi. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan babwa tekanan torsi pada saat melakukan bonding berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan sambungan bonding tersebut. Pada sambungan ovevlap joint dengan tekanan torsi 2 kN beban maksimal yang dapat diterima adalah 1015 kN. Sedang pada sambungan semi circular overlap joint dengan tekanan torsi 2 kN adalah 5297 kN. Ini menunjukkan bahwa sambungan semi circular overiap joint mempunyai kekuatan yang lebih baik daripada sambungan


ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to find out the strength of adhesive bonding semi circular overlap joint comparing with the adhesive bonding overlap joint and double riveted joint. Joint strength obtained from static tensile load test results and verified by stress distribution analysis using finite element method. Static tensile load test was done to each joint specimens Al 5083 specimens material and epoxy resin adhesive specimens. Overlap joint specimens was made with various pressures during bonding process 2 Nm 4 Nm and 5 Nm while semi circular overlap joint specimens was made with 2 Nm pressures during bonding process. In finite element method analysis joint model was made from 3 layers aluminum plate on both upper and lower layer and an adhesive layer in the midle of its. Analysis was done in 2D model. Test results showed that pressure aplied during bonding process has significant effect to the joint strength. At the same 2 Nm pressures aplied during bonding process semi circular overlap joint can endure load up to 5.297 kN and overlap joint only up to 1.015 kN. It showed that semi circular overlap joint has better strength than the overlap joint.
