Untuk menghindari keruntuhan getas pada perencanaan kuat lentur balok beton bertulang tunggal akibat beban gravitasi maka diberi batasan p = 0,75pb, (underreinforced). Penelitian Ziara-Haldane- Kuttab (1995) dan Zulfikar (1999) menunjukkan bahwa balok dengan tulangan overreinforced yang terkekang pada jalur tekannya, terjadi peningkatan kekuatan lentur dan ternyata masih berperilaku daktail baik pada balok beton mutu biasa maupun balok dengan beton mutu tinggi. Namun kedua penelitian tersebut tidak memberikan batasan tulangan lebih (overreinforced) agar balok terjamin daktilitasnya. Penelitian ini mencoba menentukan batasan ratio penulangan tunggal ( p ) dimana balok Beton mutu tinggi bertulangan overreinforced yang terkekang pada jalur tekannya masih efektif terjamin syarat daktilitasnya. Dalam menentukan benda uji dilakukan analisa teoritis untuk memprediksi perilaku lentur dan daktilitas balok uji. Analisa ini menghasilkan grafik - grafik hubungan antara p dan uQ, Untuk tiga mutu beton (60 MPa ; 73,23 MPa ; dan 80 MPa) serta tiga mutu tulangan berbeda. Dari grafik tersebut diketahui batasan p yang digunakan apabila dikehendaki uq > 4. Digunakan dua benda uji (200 mm x 300 mm x 3400 mm) yang memiliki uq sekitar 4. Percobaan dilakukan sampai 0,85 Mmaks dan pada saat M maks uq digunakan. Kesimpulan yang didapat dari perbandingan antara prediksi teoritis dart hasil pengujian laboratorium memiliki kecenderungan yang sama. Hasil menunjukkah bahwa untuk mendapatkan uq >. 4, tulangan tunggal lebih tidak boleh lebih dari 0,5 tulangan balance baru (p < 0,5 p'b).

To avoid brittle failure in the fiexural capacity design, single underreinforced beams have to limit the reinforcement ratio to p < 0,75pb. Investigations by Ziarra (1995) and Zulfikar (1999) have been indicating that beam overreinforced but confined in its compression path, have shown not only increasing its flexural capacity but also possesed ductile behavior as the undersseinforced concrete beams. But in those two investigations do not indicate (show) limit of the overreinforce in order to assure its ductile characteristic. This eksperimen try to establish the said limit single reinforced ratio where overreinforce high concrete of beam with confinement in compression regions still effective to guarantee ductility. Commensurate to the experimental works an intensive theoretical analysis has been performend by studying beam's ductility behavior with varios relation of p and three different f c and fy. Result of these analytical study was used in determining the p limit of the overreinforced high strength concrete beams that possessing uq > 4. Two test beams (200 mm x 300 mm x 3400 mm ) with this r limit were constructed to verify its validity. This research concluded that the moment-mj of the experiments of the two tested beams were close to the analytical one as long as P ^ 0,5 p'b.
