ABSTRAK

Pemeriksaan fisik kimia limbah belum cukup untuk menentukan efek air limbah yang akan dirasakan langsung oleh biota akuatik sehingga perlu pemantauan biologis terhadap air limbah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis efek limbah pabrik peleburan tembaga surfaktan dan kertas terhadap kerusakan insang ikan nila dan perubahan kecepatan pernapasan yang menyertainya. Metoda yang digunakan adalah uji toksisitas jangka pendek 96 jam sesuai metoda standar dengan pemaparan statis. Limbah diambil dari efluen IPAL pabrik peleburan tembaga surfaktan kertas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi hyperplasia pada insang ikan nila. Insang ikan nila yang dipapar efluen pabrik peleburan tembaga dan pabrik surfaktan mengalami hyperplasia 100 dan yang nampak hanya fusi antar lamella sekunder. Sedang ikan nila yang dipapar limbah pabrik kertas mengalami hyperplasia rata-rata sebesar 7913. Kecepatan pernapasan ikan nila yang dipapar limbah cenderung mengalami penurunan dibanding kontrol. Dari hasil perhitungan statistik konsentrasi air limbah pabrik peleburan tembaga yang memberikan pengaruh signifikan pada perubahan kecepatan pernapasan adalah konsentrasi 40 volume dengan kandungan TDS 1590 mg1 TSS 27 mg1 Fe 039 mg1 Zn 0116 mg1 Cd 012 mg1 Pb 0048 mg1 dan F 0044 mg1. Untuk air limbah pabrik surfaktan yang memberi pengaruh signifikan pada perubahan kecepatan pernapasan adalah konsentrasi 60 volume dengan kandungan BOD 24 mg1 COD 1776 mg1 TSS 312 mg1 dan surfaktan MBAS 06 mg1. Sedang untuk air limbah pabrik kertas yang memberi pangaruh signifikan pada perubahan kecepatan pernapasan adalah konsentrasi 20 volume dengan kandungan BOD 50 mg1 COD 172 mg1 dan TSS 23 mg1.


ABSTRACT

Biomonitoring is required in water quality evaluation because chemical and physical tests only are not sufficient to asses potential effects on aquatic biota. This research was aimed to analyzed the effects of copper smelter surfactant and paper plants effluents to the histopathology of gill and respiration rate of nila fish. The research was implemented using short term toxicity test 96 hours with static condition. Effluents were taken from WWTP of copper smelter surfactant and from paper plants. The gills of nila fish showed hyperplasia in this research. The gills of nila fish which was exposed to the effluent of copper smelter and surfactant plants showed 100 hyperplasia on lamella branchialis and fusion between lamella branchialis. Whereas the effluent of paper plant caused 7913 hyperplasia on lamella branchialis. The respiration rate of nila fish which was exposed to the effluents tended to decrease. From statistical analysis the effluent concentration of copper smelter plant which gave significant influence respiration rate were 40 volume with TDS TSS Fe Zn Cd Pb F concentrations of 1590 mg1 27 mg1 0.39 mg10.116 mg1 0.12 mg10.048 mg1 and 0.044 mgA respectively. For surfactant plant effluent that caused different significant respiration rate at concentration 60 volume with BOD COD TSS MBAS concentrations of 2.4 mg1 17.76 mg1 31.2 mg1 0.6 mgl respectively. While for effluent of paper plant showed different significant respiration rate at concentration 20 volume with BODCOD TSS concentrations of 50 mg1172 mg123 mg1 respectively.
