ABSTRAK

Medan aliran turbulen distribusi solid dan koefisien perpindahan massa solid-liquid dalam tangki berpengaduk dua impeller disk turbin dengan konsentrasi solid tinggi telah disimulasikan secara tiga dimensi dengan menggunakan kode komersil FLUENT 6.0.20. Model k-s standart digunakan sebagai model turbulensi. Aliran yang dibangkitkan oleh impeller diwakili oleh model Swirling Radial Jet dan untuk pemodelan multifase menggunakan mixture model. Perhitungan koefisien perpindahan massa solid-liquid menggunakan korelasi Armenante et al. 1989 untuk diameter partikel lebih dari 55 m sedangkan untuk diameter partikel yang kurang dari 55 m menggunakan korelasi Kawase and Moo-young 1990. Perbandingan medan kecepatan hasil simulasi dengan data eksperimen Rutherford et al. 1996 menunjukkan kecenderungan yang sama. Distribusi pertikel solid akan semakin merata dengan naiknya kecepatan putar impeller dan penurunan diameter partikel dan konsentrasi solid dalam sistem yang diuji. Koefisien perpindahan massa solid-liquid diverifikasi menggunakan data eksperimen Grisafi et al. 2002 akan menunjukkan kecenderungan yang sama bila pengaruh hindered settling pada sistem yang diuji diperhitungkan.


ABSTRACT

Turbulent flow field solid distribution and solid-liquid mass transfer coefficient in agitated tank with dual impeller disc turbine in high solid concentration has been simulated three dimensional used commercial code FLUENT 6.0.20. Standard k-s model was used as turbulence model. The flow generated by the disc turbine was represented by Swirling radial Jet model and for multiphase model used mixture model. The calculation of solid-liquid mass transfer coefficient used correlation of Armenante at al. 1989 for particle diameter more than 55 um while the particle diameter less than 55 urn used correlation of Kawase and Moo-young 1990. Comparison of velocity field between simulation results and experimental data of Rutherford et al. 1996 showed the same trend. The solid particle distribution will be spread evenly with increase in impeller speed and decreases with decrease in particle diameter. Solid-liquid mass transfer coefficient that verified used experimental data of Grisafi et al. 2002 showed the same trend if used hindered settling effect.
