ABSTRAK

ABSTRAK Pada roda gigi yang sedang kontak terdapat dua daerah konsentrasi tegangan yaitu pada bidang kontak terjadi konsentrasi tegangan kontak dan radius fllet akar gigi terjadi konsentrasi tegangan bending. Kedua konsentrasi tegangan ini terjadi dengan periode tertentu tergantung pada putaran roda gigi sehingga tegangan ini adalah tegangan dinamik Jika tegangan tersebut tinggi akan berpotensi sebagai penyebab kegagalan suatu desain roda gigi. Untuk menurunkan konsentrasi tegangan dinamik ini dilakukan modiflkasi profile gigi yang berdasarkan pada tebal pemotongan ujung gigi tip modification dan kedalaman modifikasi depth modification. Pada penelitian ini dibuat empat pasang roda gigi. Satu pasang roaa gigi yang tidak mengalami modifikasi. Sedangkan tiga pasang lainnya mengalami modifikasi profil gigi berupa bentuk parabolik panjang parabolik sedang dan linier yang mana tegangan dinamik kontak dan bending diamati dengan metode fotoelastik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi profll gigi dapat mereduksi tegangan kontak dan bending kecuali modiflkasi linier tegangan bending gear belum terreduksi besamya tegangan kontak yang dapat direduksi dengan modiflkasi dapat mencapai sekitar 52 dan besamya tegangan bending mencapai sekitar 75 dari roda gigi profll standar.


ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT In the gear meshing there are two area of stress concentration that is at the area of contact happened concentration of contact stress and at radius filet on tooth happened concentration of bending stress. The stress concentration are happened with specified period depend on gear rotation so that this stress is dynamically. If the stress is high enough will be potentials to cause offailure on design of the gear. To reduce the dynamic stress concentration done by modification of tooth profile with pursuant to cutting amount on tip of tooth tip modification and the modification deepness depth of modification. In this research uses four pair of gears. One of the pair gears are without teeth profile modification. The other three of pairs experience teeth profile modification of long parabolic intermediate parabolic and linear which the dynamic stress contact and bending perceived by photo elastic method. Result ofthis research indicate that modification of profile tooth can reduce stress contact and bending except linear modification the bending stress on gear not yet been reduced level of contact stress can be reduced with this modification about 52 and bending stress about 75 from gear without teeth profile modification.
