Kebakaran adalah suatu kejadian yang tidak diinginkan oleh setiap orang, dan apabila itu terjadi maka akibatnya akan dapat merugikan baik jiwa maupun harta benda atau kedua-duannya. Terutama bila kebakaran itu terjadi disuatu industri maka dampaknya berakibat langsung terhadap unsur pokok produksi, yaitu personel, peralatan, material dan lingkungan. Studi eksperiment ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan dry chemical agent untuk memadamkan kebakaran crude oil berdasarka temperatur bahan bakar.
Studi eksperimen ini dilakukan dengan cara membakar minyak mentah (crude oil) pada nampan besi yang sudah ditentukan luasnya, yaitu 0,45 m2 (5 ft2). Pada temperatur yang bervariasi, dipadamkan dengan dry chemical fire extinguisher sampai api padam. Percobaan ini dilakukan berulang-ulang (paling sedikit 5 kali). Selanjutnya dilakukanpengambilan data : temperatur crude oil, berat dry chemical yang digunaka. Dengan range temperatur25 ̡̉C - 150 ̡̉C diperoleh hasily = 0,019x + 0,276, dimana x adalah temperatur crude oil (̡̉C) dan y adalah berat dry chemical untuk pemadaman (kg).
Dari hasil eksperimen diharapkan dapat digunakan untuk menentukan kebutuhan dry chemical agent yang digunakan untuk memadamkan kebakaran minyak mentah dimana temperaturnya sudah diperkirakan. Disamping itu diharapkan pula dapat digunakan untuk menentukan kebutuhan dry chemical pada sistim pemadam tetap (Fixed Instalation) Local Application System.

Fire is unwanted event since it can endanger human and properties. Espectially when fire happens in industry it impacts, i.e. personel, equipment, materials and environment.
The objective of this experimental study is to find out the dry chemical agent need to fight crude oil fire at various temperature.
The experiment was performed by burning crude oil in a 0,45 m2 (5 ft2) iron tray. The fire was extinguished using dry chemical fire extinguisher, at varied temperatures. The test was done repeatedly (at least 5 times), then the crude oil temperatures and dry chemical used data were recorded.
At a temperature range of 25 ̡̉C to 150 ̡̉C, the resulted relation was y = 0,019x + 0,276, were x is oil temperature (̡̉C) andy is dry chemical needed to extinguish the fire (kg). The result of the experiment is expected to be able tobe used to determine the dry chemical agent need in extinguishing crude oil fire if the temperature can be estimated. Besides, it is also expected to be able to be used to determine dry chemical need for the Fixed Instalation of the Local Application System.
