Penelitian ini menganalisa bagaimana laminasi kayu merbau serta laminasi kayu merbau dan bambu betung digunakan sebagai material konstruksi cross beam dilihat dari segi ekonomi, teknologi produksi (laminasi) dan kekuatan pengujian kekuatan dilakukan dengan uji bending, dengan empat model specimen uji,berukuran 130mm x 50mm x 1000mm. Variasi laminasi mulai dari 100% merbau dengan dua laminasi, 100 % merbau dengan tiga laminasi dan 40 % merbau 60% bambu dengan lima sistim laminasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan terjadinya kenaikan kekuatan pada konstruksi laminasi lima layer, yaitu : material laminasi kayu merbau sisa dengan komposisi 40% merbau 60% bambu betung. Dengan harga yang lebih rendah bila di bandingkan dengan konstruksi laminasi cross beam yang di produksi PT.PAL Indonesia.

This research analyze how merbau wood lamination and merbau wood -betung bamboo lamination will perform as cross beam with it's strength and cost characteristics. Testing were done by static bending test for each specimen. There are four specimen each of 130 x 50 x 1000 mm dimensions, with one is 100% merbau with 2 lamination system, 100% merbau with 3 lamination system, and 40% and 60% merbau with 5 lamination system. The result shows better strength for 5 layer lamination of 40% merbau wood and 60% betung bamboo. It is shows better in term of cost than the 100% merbau lamination produced by PT. PAL Indonesia.
