Keandalan sistem Water Treatment Plant berperan penting untuk menghasilkan demineralized water yang memenuhi standar untuk air pengisi di boiler. Dalam proses injeksi kimianya, penggantian Regen Metering Pump dengan ejector dimaksudkan untuk mengatasi masalah - masalah yang selama ini terjadi, sehingga mampu memberikan manfaat financial berupa penghematan biaya pemeliharaan dan biaya pengadaan Regen Metering Pump, serta manfaat non financial berupa peningkatan keandalan, safety dan kemudahan operasi. Untuk mengetahui kelayakan pemakaian ejector tersebut, dibuat rancangan sistem perpipaan yang baru dan dilakukan perhitungan backpressure outlet ejector, pressure loss inlet ejector serta drawrate untuk secondary fluid. Studi numerik dilakukan berdasarkan data hasil perhitungan tersebut, menggunakan software fluent 6.2 untuk mendapatkan karakteristik aliran berupa kontur tekanan, kontur velocity, kontur volume fraction, kontur turbulence kinetic energy, kontur turbulence intensity, dan kontur density di dalam ejector. Hasil tersebut akan memvisualisasi apakah desain instalasi ejector mampu melakukan injeksi kimia sesuai dengan standar yang ditetapkan. Dari hasil perhitungan backpressure, didapat bahwa besarnya backpressure melebihi batas kemampuan ejector. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan modifikasi sistem perpipaan untuk mengurangi backpressure sehingga ejector bisa berfungsi dengan baik. Hasil simulasi numerik dan percobaan dilapangan menunjukkan bahwa ejector mampu melakukan injeksi kimia untuk instalasi ejector yang sudah dimodifikasi pada sistem pembuangan limbahnya. Hasil eksperimen juga menunjukkan bahwa kualitas demineralised water hasil regenerasi dengan ejector mempunyai kandungan silica, conductivity, pH dan kemampuan operasi yang sesuai dengan standart yang telah ditetapkan.

The quality of demineralized water that is used in boilers depends on the water treatment plant reliability. In a chemical injection, the usage of the ejector as the subtitution for regen metering pump is to reduce the maintenance cost and to save metering pump purchasing. Besides, it increase reliability and safety in water treatment plant operation . The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility of ejector application in the chemical injection for the water treatment plant of Paiton Steam Power Plant. The feasibility of ejector system needs modifications in the piping instalation and the calculation of backpressure, pressure loss and drawrate of the instalation. Using software fluent 6.2 will get the detail of flow characteristic such as pressure contours, velocity contours, turbulence kinetic energy contours, turbulence intensity contours, volume fraction contours and density contours inside the ejector. The simulation will approve the feasibility of the ejector installation. The calculations give a fact that the existing piping instalation has a high backpressure over the ejector capability limit. Some modification have to be made to reduce the backpressure. Simulation and experiment results show that the ejector will be able to distribute chemical injection for the operation with the modified outlet piping instalation. The chemical injection refreshes the ion exchange that will produce the maximum capacity of the demineralized water. The contents of the product such as silica, conductivity, pH, and specific gravity are always in the best quality ranges.
