ABSTRAK

Kawasan perairan alur barat Selat Madura erat kaitannya dengan lingkungan pantai Delta Bengawan Solo. Kawasan pantai ini telah lama dikenal sebagai alur pelayaran serta mempunyai sumberdaya pesisir yang cukup tinggi. Sejalan dengan pesatnya pengembangan kota Surabaya dan Gresik seperti pengembangan kawasan pesisir untuk daerah hunian modern dan industri maka kondisi ini telah merubah sistem pantai di kawasan tersebut. Lahan pantai direklamasi untuk daerah industri dan hunian merupakan prioritas dalam program pengembangan daerah ini. Konversi hutan mangrove untuk dijadikan daerah industri dan tambak menimbulkan dampak terjadinya erosi pantai Selat Madura. Dampak lainnya terjadi pendangkalan alur pelayaran Selat Madura. Gelombang yang dibangkitkan oleh kapal-kapal yang bergerak cepat cukup memberikan dampak terhadap erosi pantai dan keruhnya air laut di sekitar perairan Selat Madura. Pengamatan langsung di lapangan atas terjadinya sedimentasi akan membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama dan biaya yang cukup besar. Oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu teknik yang dapat menghitung terjadinya sedimentasi dengan cepat dan akurasi yang tinggi. Dalam tesis ini menggunakan teknik penginderaan jauh dan data hidro-oseanografi untuk mengidentifikasi dinamika sedimen yang terjadi di Selat Madura. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian konsentrasi sebaran sedimen tersuspensi di perairan Selat Madura cenderung dinamis namun secara keseluruhan telah terjadi peningkatan luasan pada konsentrasi sedimen tersuspensi tinggi. Proses pengendapan terjadi di bagian tepi pantai Selat Madura pada kedalaman laut kurang dari 5 meter hal tersebut sangat dipengaruhi oleh kondisi pasang surut pola dan kecepatan arus di daerah ini. Perubahan garis pantai terjadi di kawasan pantai Ujung Pangkah dan pantai Bungah. Perubahan garis pantai di Ujung Pangkah terjadi akibat adanya proses sedimentasi dari Sungai Bengawan Solo yang selama periode tahun 1994-2007 terjadi pantai maju sebesar 800 m atau sekitar 615 mtahun. Sedangkan perubahan garis pantai di Bungah dalam periode waktu yang sama terjadi pantai mundur sebesar 500 m atau sekitar 385 mtahun akibat proses abrasi. Di kawasan pantai Teluk Lamong terjadi garis pantai maju di sekitar muara Kali Lamong dan di kawasan pantai bagian selatan seperti di pantai Surabaya garis pantai tidak mengalami perubahan yang cukup berarti.


ABSTRACT

The coast of west Madura Strait closely relate to the environment ecosystem of Bengawan Solo Delta Complex. The coastal area has been known as a marine shipping and has abundant marine biota resources. As the increases of the development of Surabaya and Gresik City particularly such as the development of coastal areas for modern properties and industries therefore they intensively change the coastal system of the area. Reclamation for industries and living areas is the main priority in the development of programs for this area. Conversion of mangrove forest for industries and coastal fishery areas affects to coastal erosions in the Madura Strait. Another effect is deposition of the marine shipping of the Madura Strait. Coastal waves generated by vessels and speedboats affect to coastal erosions and water turbidity of the Madura Strait. Direct observation in the field about sedimentation process will need a long time and a lot of cost. Therefore it is needed a technique which can calculate sedimentation quickly and highly accurate. In this thesis we use remote sensing and hydro-oceanography to identify sediment dynamics at Madura Strait. Based on the research suspended sediments distribution at Madura Strait waters are dynamics. But totally the wide of high suspended sediment concentration has been increased. Sedimentation processses occurred at both of the edge Madura Strait waters in depth less than 5 meter that condition is influenced by tidal current pattern and velocity. Shoreline changes occurred at Ujung Pangkah and Bungah coasts. The prograding shoreline at Ujung Pangkah occurred because of sedimentation from Bengawan Solo river with rate 800 m in period 1994-2007 or about 615 myear. The retrograding shoreline at Bungah coast was 500 m in period 1994-2007 or about 385 myear because of erosion. Meanwhile at Lamong Bay coast the prograding shoreline occurred at Lamong River estuary area and at Surabaya coast the shoreline is not changing significantly.
