ABSTRAK

Salah satu kerusakan pada pulverizer PLTU Paiton 2 x 400 Megawatt adalah kerusakan vane wheel pulverizer akibat baut penahannya rusak yaitu baut patah dan kepalanya terabrasi. Kerusakan ini menyebabkan pulverizer tidak beroperasi dan mengalami derating yaitu penurunan daya hingga 20 50-80 Megawatt oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan analisa kerusakan baut vane wheel pulverizer tersebut. Metode untuk menganalisa kegagalan baut abrasi dengan pengujian kekerasan metallografi dan perhitungan data operasi sedangkan untuk kegagalan baut patah menggunakan fraktografi dan simulasi dengan software ANSYS 11.0. Baut terabrasi disebabkan batubara yang mengikis kepala baut karena adanya kandungan batubara berupa quartz yang kekerasan lebih tinggi dari material baut. Laju abrasi dipercepat dengan semakin besar volume material kepala baut yang terkikis karena dengan semakin kecil volume kepala baut maka kekerasan material baut semakin menurun. Mekanisme kegagalan baut patah berupa patah lelah akibat beban siklus tegangan geser yang lebih dominan dari tegangan tarik dan didapatkan luas area patah statis sekitar 30 40 dari total luas area permukaan. Kegagalan baut abrasi mempunyai kontribusi terjadinya baut patah. Ketika dalam 1 segment vane wheel hanya tinggal 4 buah maka baut yang tersisa akan mengalami beban yang melebihi endurance limit sebesar 38 ksi sehingga terjadi patah lelah. Disarankan dilakukan internal check setiap 3 bulan dengan penurunan interval waktunya sekali dan lakukan penggantian semua baut ketika tersisa 4 buah karena baut akan mengalami patah fatig.


ABSTRACT

Vane wheel of pulverize was broken one of the damage at coal fired power plant. The damage effected of vane wheel bolt failure such as bolt abrasive and bolt failure. This damage cause pulverize cannot operate and happened derating equal to 20 50-80 Megawatt Method used to analyze failure of bolt abrasive using hardness test metallographic and calculation of operation data while for bolt failure use fractography and simulation use FEA software ANSYS 11.0. Failure mechanism bolt abrasive because of stream coal that content higher hardness of bolt material. Abrasion rate depend amount of coal emitting a stream and the level of the percentage of mass of content of dry content ash quartz and pyrite. Abrasion rate increase when more material bolt lead abraded because smaller volume bolt lead hence hardness of bolt smaller. Bolt failure caused of cycle shear stress more dominant than tension stress. From both failure bolt abrasive have contribution the happening of bolt broken because if 2-3 boltvane wheel segment abrasive the others of bolt have load 38.5 ksi its higher than limit endurance of A325 38 ksi. Suggested to be done internal check of pulverize every 3 months and replacement all when remaining at least 4
