Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari penggunaan zeolit NaY dari sekam padi sebagai pendukung katalis yaitu Sn/NaY, Pd/NaY, Sn-Pd/NaY (metoda 1), Sn-Pd/NaY (metoda 2) dalam reduksi nitrat yang disebut dengan denitrifikasi. Uji katalisis dilakukan dengan aliran hidrogen sebagai agen pereduksi. Seluruh katalis dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD, FT-IR, adsorpsi N2 dan piridin FT-IR. Aktivitas dari katalis analog dengan jumlah nitrat yang terkonversi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aktivitas katalis memiliki urutan Sn-Pd/NaY (metoda 2) [98,15%] > Sn-Pd/NaY (metoda 1) [96,29%] > Pd/NaY [92,59%] > Sn/NaY [87,04%] > zeolit NaY [83,33%]. Sedangkan selektivitas katalis diamati berdasarkan produk yang terbentuk. N2 merupakan produk utama reaksi denitrifikasi, dengan urutan selektivitas katalis terhadap produk gas N2 adalah Pd/NaY > Sn/NaY > Sn-Pd/NaY (metoda 1) > Sn-Pd/NaY (metoda 2) > zeolit NaY. Aktivitas katalis dipengaruhi oleh kristalinitas dan metoda preparasi yang digunakan, sedangkan selektivitas katalis dipengaruhi oleh logam Sn dan Pd.

The use of NaY zeolite, which was synthesized from rice husk as catalyst support, was studied for the reduction of aqueous nitrate solution using Sn/NaY, Pd/NaY, Sn-Pd/NaY (1), Sn-Pd/NaY (2) and also NaY. Catalytic denitrifications were tested using hydrogen as a reductant in a batch reactor. Those catalysts were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, N2 adsorption and pyridine adsorption FT-IR. The catalytic activity is analog to the nitrate converted. A differentiation of the catalytic activity in this series yields the following sequence of decreasing acivity: Sn-Pd/NaY (methode 2) [98,15%] > Sn-Pd/NaY (methode 1) [96,29%] > Pd/NaY [92,59%] > Sn/NaY [87,04%] > zeolit NaY [83,33%]. The catalytic selectivity was observed based on the product formed. N2 was the main denitrification product. The order of the catalytic selectivity to N2 is Pd/NaY > Sn/NaY > Sn-Pd/NaY (methode 1) > Sn-Pd/NaY (methode 2) > zeolit NaY. The catalytic activity is influenced by the crystalinity and the preparation method, while the catalytic selectivity is influenced by supported metal.
