ABSTRAK

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memproduksi Electrolyzed Oxidized Water EOW dari elektrolisa larutan NaCl. Daerah anoda dan katoda dibatasi oleh membran kation atau resin kation. Penggunaan resin kation dalam produksi EOW ini dievaluasi sebagai pengganti membran kation. Membran kation yang umumnya digunakan relatif mahal oleh karena itu dicoba mencari bahan yang lebih murah dan mudah diperoleh dipasaran. Larutan garam dengan konsentrasi tertentu 005 - 025 berat dibuat dengan mengencerkan larutan garam Ecosol NaCl 09 . Larutan NaCl dielektrolisa pada wadah berbentuk kubus yang panjang sisi 15 cm. Kedua elektroda kerja yaitu anoda dan katoda berupa kawat platina bebentuk spiral. Beda tengangan antara katoda dan anoda divariasi 8-14 V. Konsentrasi klorin bebas yang dihasilkan meningkat seiring penggunaan potensial dan konsentrasi NaCl yang semakin tinggi. Pada produksi EOW di daerah anoda terjadi oksidasi Cl- menjadi Cl2 pada -09 V terhadap elektroda AgAgCl kemudian Cl2 teroksidasi menjadi HClO pada 1 V terhadap elektroda AgAgCl. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa EOW dapat diaplikasikan sebagai antiseptik yang memiliki kemampuan membunuh bakteri lebih baik daripada sodium hypochlorite. Pembuatan EOW dengan menggunakan resin kation dapat menggantikan membran kation karena mampu memproduksi EOW yang mengandung klorin bebas cukup tinggi seperti halnya menggunakan membran kation.


ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work is to produce Electrolized Oxidized Water EOW by electrolyzing NaCl solution. The anode and cathode region were separated by cation membrane. EOW produced using cation resin was also done and evaluated as an alternative to subtitute membrane cation that commonly more expensive than cation resin. Diluted NaCl solution 0.05 - 0.25 wt was made by diluting saline solution Ecosol 0.9 NaCl. The NaCl solution was electrolized in a cubic cell of shides of 15 cm. Both electrodes i.e anode and cathode were spiral shape platinum wire. The applied potential were varied from 8 14 V. The concentration of free chlorine can be increased by increasing either the applied potential and the NaCl concentration. In anode region Cl- were oxidized to Cl2 at -09 V versus AgAgCl electrode then Cl2 were oxidized to HClO at 1 V versus AgAgCl electrode. The result reported that EOW can be applied as an antiseptic that has the ability to inactive bacteria better than sodium hypochlorite. Resin cation can be used as an alternative to substitute membrane cation in order to produce EOW because cation resin produced free chlorine as good as membrane cation.
