PENGARUH AIR DISEKITAR AREA LAHAN GAMBUT YANG DISTABILISASI TERHADAP SIFAT FISIK DAN SIFAT TEKNIS TANAH GAMBUT BERSERAT

THE EFFECT OF WATER SURROUNDING THE STABILIZED PEAT AREA TO THE PHYSICAL AND ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF THE FIBROUS PEAT SOIL

ABSTRAK

Metode stabilisasi merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengurangi pemampatan tanah gambut berserat dan untuk meningkatkan daya dukungnya. Bahan stabilisasi admixture yang telah dikembangkan untuk tanah gambut berserat adalah campuran antara 30 kapur CaCO3 dan 70 abu sekam. Telah diperoleh hasil bahwa prosentase admixture yang memberikan perbaikan sifat tanah gambut berserat yang optimum adalah 10 dari berat basah. Hanya saja studi yang telah dilakukan tersebut mengabaikan pengaruh air di sekitar lahan gambut yang distabilisasi sehingga kurang sesuai dengan kenyataan yang ada di lapangan. Karena alasan tersebut maka dalam penelitian ini direncanakan bahwa sampel yang distabilisasi diletakkan ditengah tanah gambut yang kondisinya jenuh dan selalu tergenang air. Prosentase admixture yang direncanakan untuk stabilisasi dibuat bervariasi yaitu 5 10 15 dan 20 dari berat basah 375 75 1125 dan 150 dari berat kering. Setiap sampel yang telah distabilisasi kemudian diperam selama 10 20 dan 30 hari dalam kondisi berada ditengah tanah gambut yang jenuh dan selalu tergenang air. Selanjutnya tanah gambut yang distabilisasi yang terletak paling dekat dan paling jauh dari tanah gambut yang jenuh dan yang tidak distabilisasi ditentukan sifat fisik dan sifat teknisnya tujuannya adalah untuk melihat sejauh mana pengaruh air disekitarnya terhadap perubahan perilaku tanah gambut berserat yang distabilisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan perilaku yang maksimum dari tanah gambut yang distabilisasi dicapai apabila bahan stabilisasi yang dicampurkan sebesar 15 berat basah 1125 berat kering. Pada umur stabilisasi minimum 30 hari total regangan yang terjadi berkurang hingga 5586 dan daya dukungnya meningkat sampai dengan 2844. Selain itu adanya hisapan suction terhadap air di lingkungan sekitar oleh admixture membuat admixture yang bersangkutan mampu membentuk silica gel secara sempurna selain itu adanya air yang selalu menggenangi dapat memperlambat proses dekomposisi dari gambut yang distabilisasi.


ABSTRACT

Soil stabilization is one of the available methods to reduce compression of the fibrous peat soil and to increase its bearing capacity. Stabilizing agent admixture that has been developed for fibrous peat is a mixture of 30 CaCO3 lime and 70 rice husk ash RHA. It has been found that the percentage of the admixture which is able to provide the optimum improvement of the fibrous peat properties is 10 of the peat wet weight. The study however did not include the influence of water surrounding the stabilized peat area so that it is not the same with the field real condition. Based on this reason the study carried out herein was designed to place the stabilized peat samples in the middle of the saturated peat soil and it was kept in flooding condition. The percentages of admixture chosen for stabilization were varied 5 10 15 and 20 of the peat wet weight 37.5 75 112.5 and 150 of its dry weight. Each stabilized sample was cured at different time periods 10 20 and 30 days and all of them were placed in the middle of the saturated peat soil and they were kept in flooding condition. Afterwards the stabilized peat soils located at the closest and the fartherst from the surrounding saturated peat soil were determined their physical and engineering properties in order to know the influence of water from the outside of the stabilized fibrous peat soil to its behavior. The results show that the maximum improvement of the stabilized peat behavior are achieved when the admixture used is 15 of its wet weight 112.5 its dry weight and cured at least in 30 days. The total strain of the stabilized peat reduces about 55.86 and the bearing capacity increases about 2844. In addition the suction from the surrounding water causes the development process of silica gel in the soil pores can take place perfectly. Besides the decomposition process of the stabilized peat becomes slower due to it keeps inundated under water.
