ABSTRAK

Penggunaan sistem vegetasi vertikal pada hunian bertingkat rendah sangat penting untuk menciptakan iklim mikro dalam bangunan. Desain ini harus mampu merespon kondisi iklim melalui pemanfataan ruang yang terekspos iklim luar seperti balkon sebagai perletakan vegetasi dalam mencapai kenyamanan termal. Sistem vegetasi vertikal berpengaruh terhadap kinerja termal bangunan dengan indikasi penurunan temperatur dan peningkatan kelembaban udara akibat proses evapotranspirasi tergantung pada kerimbunan daun. Kelembaban udara yang tinggi menyebabkan ketidaknyamanan termal di dalam ruang. Untuk memperbaiki ketidaknyamanan tersebut perlu pengaliran udara melalui celah dedaunan sistem vegetasi vertikal. Penelitian ini meliputi studi pada 3 tipe sistem vegetasi vertikal dengan perbedaan tingkat kerimbunan daun yang dipasang pada balkon bangunan Asrama Mahasiswa ITS Surabaya melalui metode eksperimen. Tujuannya untuk mengkaji pengaruh kerimbunan daun terhadap kinerja termal hunian bertingkat rendah dengan parameter temperatur kelembaban udara dan kecepatan angin. Variabel-variabel penelitian akan diukur dan dianalisa untuk mendapatkan keterkaitan dari variabel-variabel yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kerimbunan daun pada sistem vegetasi vertikal berpengaruh terhadap kinerja termal di dalam ruang hunian bertingkat rendah. Semakin tinggi tingkat kerimbunan daun akan semakin besar penurunan temperatur dan semakin tinggi peningkatan kelembaban udara namun dapat mengurangi aliran udara yang masuk ke dalam ruang. Aliran udara yang tersedia mampu memberikan kenyamanan termal ruang pada waktu yang relatif singkat namun secara umum belum memenuhi standar kebutuhan kecepatan angin dalam mencapai kenyamanan termal.


ABSTRACT

The use of vertical vegetation system at low-rise residential is very important to create indoor microclimate. The design should respond to climatic condition through the use of room which is exposed to outdoor climate such as a balcony Vertical vegetation system can be placed in this area to create thermal comfort. The system affects to thermal building system which can be seen through some indicators such as temperature reducement and higher relative humidity. Both are happened as a result of evapotranspiration process which is depends on leaves exuberance. High relative humidity will create indoor thermal discomfort. Air movement through gap of vertical vegetation system is needed to solve this problem. This research studies on 3 types of vertical vegetation system the exuberance of leaves of installed in balcony of ITS Student Dormitory Building Surabaya by experimental method. The aim of this research is to study the effect of leaves exuberance to thermal performance at low-rise residential through some parameters such as temperature relative humidity and wind velocity. Variables will be measured and analyzed to get correlation among them. The results shows that leaves exuberance at vertical vegetation systems affect thermal performance on building. Higher level of leaves exuberance provide higher temperatures reducement and higher relative humidity furthermore reduce wind velocity to indoor. Air movement still has the ability to create indoor thermal comfort but only in relative short time and it is below the standard required of the wind velocity for thermal comfort.
