ABSTRAK

Bulk carrier memiliki catatan kecelakaan lebih dari 40 dari seluruh tipe kapal yang disebabkan oleh damage collision dan loss longitudinal strength. Jika ditinjau dari damage collision kapal bulk carrier yang memiliki single skin akan rentan terhadap kerusakan lambung akibat tabrakan dan menyebabkan air laut masuk ke dalam kompartemen. Pada kapal bulk carrier dipasang double skin untuk mengurangi probabilitas air laut masuk ke dalam kompartemen akibat tabrakan. Penelitian ini menganalisa lebar penetrasi hasil dari simulasi dinamis yang digunakan untuk menentukan lebar double skin kapal bulk carrier. Simulasi tabrakan kapal divariasikan berdasarkan pada kecepatan kapal yang menabrak. Kapal yang ditabrak diasumsikan diam sedangkan kapal yang menabrak diasumsikan memiliki kecepatan konstan. Finite Element Method digunakan sebagai metode untuk simulasi tabrakan kapal. Hasil yang didapatkan dari simulasi berupa grafik hubungan antara gaya dan energi dalam sebagai fungsi penetrasi yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan berat kapal yang menabrak dan penentuan lebar double skin. Penetrasi sedalam 18 meter dapat terjadi jika ditabrak oleh berat kapal 5800 ton dengan kecepatan 6 knot. Dengan mempertimbangkan aspek ship damage collision lebar double skin yang direncanakan adalah 18 meter.


ABSTRACT

Bulk carriers have a record of accidents more than 40 of all types of ships which are caused by damage collision and loss longitudinal strength. In terms of damage collision the bulk carrier which has a single skin will be suspectible to damage due to collision. The compartement can be inserted by water. Therefore the bulk carrier that has a double skin will reduce the probability of sea water into the compartement due to collision. In this study the width is determined by the width of double skin penetration caused by the collision. Ship collision simulations are varied base on the speed of the striking ship. Assumed that the striking ship is idle while the strucking ship is a constant speed. Finite element method is used as a method for the simulation of ship collision. The result obtained from the simulation is a graph the relationship between internal energy versus penetration. The graph is used to determined weight the striking ship. The penetration depth of 1.8 meters can occur if the ship was hit by weght of 5800 ton with speed of 6 knot. Therefore the width of which is planned to double skin bulk carrier plan is 1.8 meters by considering aspects of ship collision damage.
