PENGARUH BILANGAN PEROKSIDA PADA BAHAN BAKAR BIODIESEL DARI MINYAK GORENG TERHADAP UNJUK KERJA MOTOR DIESEL

ABSTRAK

Salah satu bahan bakar alternatif untuk motor diesel yang telah dikembangkan di Indonesia adalah biodiesel berbahan dasar minyak goreng. Salah satu properti yang terdapat dalam biodiesel yaitu bilangan peroksida. Bilangan peroksida akan mengalami perubahan akibat udara cahaya suhu tinggi dan material tempat penyimpanan. Semakin tinggi bilangan peroksida pada biodiesel maka nilai cetane number juga akan meningkat efeknya dapat mengurangi waktu ignition delay. Penelitian ini mendiskusikan tentang pengaruh bilangan peroksida yang terdapat di dalam bahan bakar biodiesel dari minyak goreng cooking oil terhadap unjuk kerja motor diesel. Untuk mengetahui perubahan bilangan peroksida maka biodiesel akan dioksidasi dengan menggunakan oksigen pada 60C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perubahan bilangan peroksida pada biodiesel dari minyak goreng juga memberi dampak terhadap karakteristk biodiesel lainnya. Angka setana flash point dan viskositas cenderung mengalami peningkatan dalam setiap peningkatan bilangan peroksida. Sedangkan nilai kalori cenderung mengalami penurunan. Hasil pengujian bahan bakar biodiesel B20 terhadap motor diesel menunjukkan bahwa bahan bakar dengan bilangan peroksida tertinggi memberikan unjuk kerja yang paling baik. Daya mesin maksimum yang dihasilkan pada pembebanan maksimum 2.7 lebih baik dari bahan bakar dengan bilangan peroksida terendah. Torsi mesin pada pembebanan maksimum 2.7 lebih baik dari bahan bakar dengan bilangan peroksida terendah. Konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik pada putaran mesin 3300 rpm 4.2 lebih ekonomis dari bahan bakar dengan bilangan peroksida terendah serta 10.2 lebih baik pada putaran mesin 3200 rpm. Efisiensi termal pada putaran mesin 3300 rpm 14.31 lebih tinggi dari bahan bakar dengan bilangan peroksida terendah serta 20.84 lebih baik pada putaran mesin 3200 rpm.


ABSTRACT

One of alternative fuel for diesel engines that have been developed in Indonesia is biodiesel made from cooking oil. One of the properties contained in the biodiesel is peroxide value. Peroxide will be changed due to air light high temperature and material storage areas. Increasing peroxide value increases cetane number an effect that may reduce ignition delay time. This study discusses the influence of peroxide value contained in the biodiesel from cooking oil to the diesel engine performance. To determine the changes in peroxide value the biodiesel will be oxydized using oxygen at a temperature of 60C. The Result of this study indicated that changes of peroxide value on biodiesel from cooking oil will have an impact on other biodiesel characteristics. Cetane number flash point and viscosity tends to have increase in any increase in peroxide value. While the caloric value tends to decrease.The test results of B20 biodiesel fuel on diesel engine showed that the biodiesel with highest peroxide gives the best performance. Maximum engine power is generated at the maximum load is 2.7 better than the fuel with the lowest peroxide value. Engine torque at the maximum load is 2.7 better than the fuel with the lowest peroxide. Specific fuel consumption at 3300 rpm engine speed is more economical than the 4.2 fuel with the lowest peroxide value and 10.2 better at 3200 rpm engine speed. Thermal efficiency at 3300 rpm engine speed 14.31 higher than the fuel with the lowest peroxide value and 20.84 better at 3200 rpm engine speed.
