ABSTRAK

Kualitas merupakan faktor kendali yang dapat menentukan keberlangsungan sebuah perusahaan. Perusahaan dituntut untuk dapat selalu mempertahankan dan mengembangkan kualitas produk guna menghadapi kemungkinan perubahan yang akan terjadi. Pengendalian kualitas fungsinya untuk mengukur kualitas produk dan membandingkan dengan spesifikasi yang ada. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PT. Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Surabaya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor apa yang menyebabkan tingginya jumlah kecacatan pada kemasan jerrycan dalam finish good product yang tidak memenuhi standart perusahaan dan untuk mengetahui rekomendasi strategi fungsional apa yang dapat diberikan agar jumlah kecacatan dapat berkurang. Kemasan yang akan diteliti yaitu kemasan jerrycan ukuran 5 liter. Penelitian ini dilakukan agar produk akhir yang dihasilkan telah sesuai dengan kriteria yang ada. Kualitas yang diamati yaitu penampakan fisik dari pada kemasan jerrycan dan penelitian ini tidak melakukan implementasi perbaikan kualitas yang ada. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengaplikasikan seven tools sebagai alat untuk mengetahui faktor apa yang menyebabkan tingginya jumlah kecacatan dan didapatkan hasil bahwa kecacatan yang paling mempengaruhi kualitas kemasan produk adalah pada proses labelling. Hal tersebut terlihat pada jumlah kecacatan produk yang paling tinggi pada angka 7119. Hasil dari seven tools adalah untuk mengisi faktor internal dan eksternal perusahaan. Critical control quality terletak pada etiket miring etiket tidak lengket etiket basah etiket sobek etiket sobek dan etiket tidak ada. Untuk kondisi yang paling kritis dan memerlukan penanganan perbaikan yaitu jenis etiket miring dikarenkan jumlah kecacatannya yang paling dominan. Faktor penyebab tingginya jumlah kecacatan produk secara mayoritas berasal dari kelalaian operator dalam melakukan inspeksi pada proses labelling serta maintenance mesin yang dilakukan dalam proses pengemasan tersebut kurang baik. Rekomendasi yang dapat diberikan berdasarkan tingkat kritis kecacatan yang berasal dari metode seven tools dengan dilakukannya analisa SWOT sehingga didapatkan rekomendasi strategi likuiditas dimana strategi tersebut dapat membantu perusahaan untuk mempertahankan dan memelihara pasar minyak goreng produksi PT. SMART Tbk serta pengembagan produknya.


ABSTRACT

Quality is a control factor which can determine the viability of a company. A company is then required to always be able to maintain and develop its product quality in dealing with various possibilities of imminent changes. Hence quality control is functioned to measure the quality of a productto weigh it against the determined specifications and to be a consideration in conducting appropritea djusments for improvement. In this respect a case study research was then conducted in PT. Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Surabaya. The purpose of this research was to investigate contributing factors which caused defects in jerrycanpackage of finished good products which did not comply with the company standard as well as to identify possibe recommendations to decrease the amount of defect packages. In particular the package observed in this research was 5 litrejerrycan packages as this particular package held the highest rate of the total defect packages among others.This research was then conducted in order that the final products delivered to the customers or suppliers be complied with the existing standard criteria. In addition this research was limited to identify the factors and recommend the possible recommendations without having any particular authority to actually implement the adjustments in practice. This research applied the Seven Tools quality management tool as the means to identify the factors that caused the rate of defect in 5 litrejerrycan packages to be very high. It was found that the kind of defects that mostly influenced the quality of the product packages was etiquettelabelling. This was identified with the highest amount of the defect packages by 7119. Critical control point from the product packages was etiquettelabelling. The quality observed was the physical presentation of the jerrycan packages. Moreover the factor which caused the high rate of defect packages in majoritywas from the operators negligence in conducting inspections of the production process. Then from this identification a SWOT analysis was conducted. It was found that the possible recommendations in the form of developing strategies of product imaging towards the observed brand were needed. Imaging strategy is a kind of recommendation for improvement which can be functioned to improve quality of the package which will result in the increasing of total sales and the decreasing of total number of the product defect packages.
