Di industri kecil pasuruan produk as roda sepeda motor dibuat dengan menggunakan proses tempa manual untuk menyambung antara mur dengan poros kemudian dilakukan proses facing dengan mesin bubut sehingga dihasilkan produk as roda sepeda motor. Permasalahan yang dihadapi yaitu waktu proses produksi lebih lama dan memerlukan tenaga ahli, alternatif untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan metode direct-drive friction welding.Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu gesekan terhadap struktur mikro dan sifat mekanik baja ST 41 pada produk as roda sepeda motor. Kecepatan putar yang digunakan 4215 rpm, variasi waktu gesek 25,35,45,55 detik, tekanan gesek 173,45 kg/〖cm〗^2 dan tekanan tempa 1300 kg/〖cm〗^2. Efek variasi waktu gesekan terhadap proses Direct-Drive Friction Welding menghasilkan struktur mikro dan sifat mekanik yang bervariasi. Sifat mekanik sambungan dianalisa melalui uji kekerasan, uji tarik dan uji putir. Selanjutnya hasil dari uji puntir dibandingkan dengan produk industri kecil pasuruan. Hasil dari penilitian ini adalah Semakin lama waktu gesekan maka semakin besar sifat mekanik seiring dengan perubahan struktur mikro yang terbentuk dengan tekanan tempa yang sama. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil uji puntir pada produk friction welding dengan waktu 45 detik, tekanan tempa 1300 kg/cm2 nilai torsinya 150 Nm, sedangkan produk as roda sepeda motor di industri kecil pasuruan nilainya 20 Nm. Dari itu dapat dilihat bahwa metode pengelasan direct-drive friction welding menghasilkan lasan berkekuatan tinggi dan lebih baik dari pada penyambungan dengan proses tempa manual.

In the small industry at Pasuruan, motorcycle axles wheel products made by the method of manual forging to connect between nut and shaft then it performed facing process with a lathe to produce motorcycle axles wheel. The problem is production process took longer time and requires expertise, an alternative to replace the problem is to use a method of direct-drive friction welding. The research was conducted to determine the effect of friction on the micro structure and mechanical properties of steel axles ST 41 in motorcycle axles wheel products. Used rotary speed 4215 rpm, the time variation of friction 25,35,45,55, frictional pressure of 173,45 kg/cm2 and with the forging pressure of 1300 kg/cm2. Time variation effects on direct-drive friction welding produces variation in micro structure and mechanical properties. Mechanical properties of connection were analyzed through hardness test , tensile test and momen test, Further results from momen test is compared with small industrial products Pasuruan.The results of this research is, when friction time is longer it will produce greater mechanical strength generated along with changes in the microstructure formed by certain forging pressure. momen test results on the product of direct-drive friction welding by friction time 45 seconds, forging pressure 1300 kg/cm2 is 150 Nm, while the motorcycle axles wheel products in the small industry is 20 Nm, From all that can be seen that the direct-drive friction welding machine is best used to produce the motorcycle axles wheel products because it has high strength so it will not break the connection.
