Telekomunikasi merupakan bidang yang menjadi satah satu kunci kemajuan umat manusia. Telekomunikasi memungkinkan hubungan antar manusia di mana pun, terpisah sejauh apapun, dan kapanpun, dalam berbagai.bentuk, baik
teks, suara, citra, maupun video. Orwetl (1949j meramalkan walaupun dengan cara agak berlebihan bahwa penguasa teknologi telekomunikasi akan menguasai masyarakat dan duniat (Green, 1984). Sejarahpun akan berjalan ke arah yang berbeda dengan adanya teknologi telekomunikasi modern (Barnes, 1990). Sementara itu, dalam rangka tebih mempercepat tercapainya kemakmuran rakyat, Pemerintah Indonesia telah menetapkan MP3EI atau Master Plan Percepatan Pengembangan Ekonomi Indonesia 2011-2025 (Kementerian Koordinator Bidang Perekonomian, 2011)
