SINTESA NATRIUM SIANAT DARI UREA DAN NATRIUM KARBONAT DENGAN PELARUT TRIKLOROBENZEN

SODIUM CYANATES SYNTHESES FROM UREA AND SODIUM CARBONATES USING TRICHLOROBENZENE AS A SOLVENT

ABSTRAK

Eksperimen sintesa natrium sianat dari urea dan natrium karbonat menggunakan pelarut 124-triklorobenzen TCB telah dilangsungkan dalam reaktor batch yang dilengkapi pengaduk jaket pemanas dan sistim pengeluaran gas. TCB dan natrium karbonat dipanaskan berurutan pada suhu 130 C diawal proses untuk mengeluarkan kandungan airnya dilanjutkan penambahan sebagian dari kebutuhan urea sedikit demi sedikit. Suhu dinaikkan menjadi 140 C dan dipertahankan selama 15 jam sementara ini sisa urea juga ditambahkan. TCB dapat melarutkan urea namun tidak melarutkan natrium karbonat. Selanjutnya suhu reaksi divariasikan ke 140 sampai 200 C pada tekanan atmosfer waktu 25 jam. Dengan menggunakan rasio mol urea terhadap natrium karbonat 21 dan rasio berat TCB terhadap urea 51 pada suhu 200 C hasil natrium sianat yang didapat tertinggi adalah 934 berat Yield pembentukan maksimum natrium sianat adalah 0977 molmol urea dan 196 molmol natrium karbonat. Proses berlangsung dalan campuran yang heterogen melibatkan perpindahan massa urea ke permukaan natrium karbonat. Produk natrium sianat yang padat diperkirakan tertumpuk dipermukaan partikel natrium karbonat yang belum bereaksi. Shrinking core model telah digunakan untuk membuat model simulasi sintesa natrium sianat ini. Hasil perhitungan model telah memberikan kecocokan dengan hasil eksperimen sebagaimana ditunjukkan dalam kurva hasil eksperimen dan hasil perhitungan simulasinya.


ABSTRACT

Experiment on sodium cyanates syntheses from urea and sodium carbonates using 124-trichlorobenzene TCB addition as a solvent has been conducted in a batch reactor which is equipped with mixer heating jacket and exhausted gas system. TCB and natrium carbonates were dewatered at 130 C as an initial pretreatment followed by additional urea gradually. Temperature was adjusted to 140C and the remaining urea was fed to the mixing system for 15 hours.Urea dissolved in TCB while sodium carbonates were not Then temperature of reaction was varieted from 140 to 200 C and held for 2.5 hours under atmospheric conditions. Using moles ratio of urea to sodium carbonates of 21 and the mass ratio of TCB to urea of 51 at 200 C the highest sodium cyanates content in product was 93.4 mass. Maximum yield sodium cyanates produced was 0976 molmol urea and 196 molmol sodium carbonatest The process was carried out in a heterogeneous system there was a mass transfer of dissolved urea to the surface of sodium carbonates particles. Solid product of sodium cyanates were accumulated on the surface of sodium carbonates particles. The shrinking core model was applied to the modeling of the syntheses process.The model calculations gave a good agreement with the experimental data.
