ABSTRAK

Paduan magnesium banyak dikembangkan sebagai Hydrogen Storage Mat erials. Penambahan unsur Al dan Ni dalam paduan magnesium berguna untuk mengurangi energi ketika proses hidrogenasi berlangsung. Sintesa paduan magnesium dilakukan dengan metode mechanical alloying. Paduan Mg-Al didoping dengan menambahkan 10at. Ni menggunakan variasi waktu milling selama 2 5 10 dan 20 jam. Setelah milling selesai kemudian dilakukan proses sintering pada temperatur 6000C. Sampel dianalisis dengan pengujian BET XRD dan SEMEDX. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan penambahan Ni dapat menstabilkan fasa paduan MgAl hasil mechanical alloying dan dapat membentuk paduan Mg-Al-Ni berupa larutan padat Mg AlNi dan Mg3AlNi2 setelah dilakukan sintering pada temperatur 6000C.


ABSTRACT

Magnesium alloys are often developed as Hydrogen Storage Materials. The additions of Al and Ni elements in magnesium alloys are useful for reducing energy during the hydrogenation process occurred. Magnesium alloys synthesized with mechanical alloying method. Mg-Al alloys will be doped by adding 10at Ni with 2 5 10 and 20 hours milling time variation. When milling completed sintering process was done 6000C. Material resulted from mechanical alloying were characterized using BET surface Analysis XRD and SEMEDX. The results show that addition of Ni can stabilize the phase of MgAl alloys obtained from mechanical alloying and capable to form Mg-Al-Ni alloys in the form of Mg solid solution AlNi and Mg3AlNi2
