FINITE ELEMENT MODELING OF TWO WAY HALF SLAB PRECAST CONCRETE SUBJECTED TO MONOTONIC LOADING

ABSTRAK

Half slab precast concrete has been commonly use in the bridge construction and designed as one way slab systems. Due to the rapid construction method most of the building designers and constructors have changed the monolith cast in situ slab system into the half slab precast system. However for two way slab systems these changes are lead to the severe concrete cracking as well as section strength reduction. Hence the main problem that to be solved in this study is the changes system from the monolith cast in situ into the half slab precast for two way slab with large dimension. Commonly the slab is divided into several precast parts but still maintain to have two way slab behavior. Thus it is necessary to develop the precast connection systems that have adequate capacity to resist the acting moment for the two way slab systems. This paper presents finite element modeling and simulation of two way half slab precast concrete systems that subjected to the monotonic loading. The connection between precast concrete slabs using wet joint system with adequate reinforcement bar is proposed. To verify the capacity of the connections as well as the half slab precast concrete systems the model is compared with the monolith cast in situ slab systems. Comparison results show good agreement between half slab precast and monolith cast in situ slab systems. Though the half slab precast system still has some discontinuities between the precast slabs components the additional reinforcement bar ratio in the wet joint system still can resist the acting forces that occur in the corresponding direction. Therefore based on the modeling and simulation results the proposed two way half slab precast concrete systems can be applied to the real structural systems.
