PENGARUH DENSITAS ARUS TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN ADSORPSI SURFAKTAN DAN KUALITAS LAPISAN DALAM PROSES PELAPISAN NIKEL SECARA ELEKTROLITIK

ABSTRAK

Surfaktan natrium lauril sulfat NaLS digunakan sebagai zat pembasah dalam proses pelapisan nikel secara elektrolitik dengan konsentrasi 01 grlt. Elektrolisis dilakukan pada temperatur pH dan waktu yang konstan dengan variasi densitas arus 30 45 60 75 dan 90 mAcm2. Kadar NaLS yang teradsorpsi selama elektrolisis dianalisa dengan spektrofotometer. Sedangkan ketebalan kekerasan. dan tekstur lapisan masing-masing dianalisa dengan mikroskop ukur microhardness tester dan Scanning Electron Microscopy SEM. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa makin tinggi densitas arus yang digunakan. makin besar kadar NaLS yang teradsorpsi demikian pula ketebalan dan kekerasan lapisannya. Ketebalan dan kekerasan lapisan yang paling homogen dan tekstur lapisan yang paling baik diperoleh pada elektrolisis dengan densitas arus 60 mAcm2.


ABSTRACT

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate NaLS was used as wetting agent in electroliticalry nickel plating. Concentrating of NaLS in the electrolysis was 0.1 grlt. The electrolysis was operated in constant temperature pH and time. Mean while current density was varied between 30 and 90 mAcm2 with interval of 15 mAcm2. Quantity of NaLS that was adsorbed after electrolysis was analyzed by Spectrophotometer. The layer thickness and hardness was analyzed by Measure Microscope and Microhardness-tester respectively. The result showed that the adsorbed NaLS increased as the current density increased. The same phenomenon was also accured on the layer thickness and hardness. However the most homogen layer thickness and hardness was achieved at current density 60 mAcm2.
