PENGUBAHAN PLASTIK PADAT MENJADI BUBUK DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN FLUIDA KARBONDIOKSIDA SUPERKRITIS

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini mempelajari tentang pemrosesan plaslik mikroselular yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan proses batch dan blowing agent karbondioksida pada suhu dan tekanan tinggi dengan metode pemanasan cepat quick heating. Telah dipelajari pengaruh dari beberapa kondisi operasi tekanan penjenuhan temperatur penjenuhan dan temperatur pemanasan terhadap perubahan struktur sel yang dihasilkan. Setelah dekompresi sampel tetap didiamkan dalam tangki penjenuhan selama 5 menit untuk proses pemanasan. Karena tekanan dan temperatur berpengaruh terhadap kelarutan karbon dioksida maka juga berpengaruh terhadap perubahan sifat fisik dari campuran polystyrene-karbon dioksida. Nukleasi dan pertumbuhan sel dapat terjadi secara serentak dalam sampel plastik yang diperlihatkan oleh perubahan foam dan internal struktur sel yang signifikan. Hal ini diperlihatkan dengan naiknya rasio ekspansi volume dengan bertambahnya tekanan penjenuhan untuk berbagai temperatur penjenuhanpemanasan. Rasio ekspansi volume yang tinggi dapat dihasilkan pada temperatur penjenuhan sekitar 433 K dan tekanan penjenuhan sekitar 20 MPa. Pemrosesan 453 K untuk berbagai tekanan penjenuhan menyebabkan kerusakan pada struktur foam termasuk permukaan lapisan kulit dan juga struktur internal.


ABSTRACT

This research was studied regarding the microcellular plastic processing in batch process and we use carbon dioxide as blowing agent at high temperature and pressure by quick heating method. The effect of various operation conditions saturation pressure and saturationheating temperature were studied to structural change of foam product. After decompression the samples were kept in the saturation vessel for 5 second to perform heating process. Since saturation pressure and temperature affected the solubility of carbon dioxide in polystyrene it changed also the physical properties of polymer-gas solution significantly. The nucleation and growth of cell might be tremendously occurred throughout the plastic sample that showed by the significant change of foam and internal cell structure. It was identified by an increase of volume expansion ratio with increase in saturation pressure for various saturationheating temperatures. High volume expansion ratio could be produced under saturation temperature around 433K and saturation pressure around 20 MPa. Processing at higher temperature arid pressure lead to the shrinking the cell which is seen from the decreasing in cell diameter and volume expansion ratio. Below these conditions the opposite results have been gotten. Processing at 453 K for various saturation pressure has caused a damaged of foamed structure as a whole included the surfaceskin layer and also internal structure.
