KARAKTERISTIK AERODINAMIK EMPAT SILINDER SIRKULAR DAN EMPAT SILINDER TEGAK TERIRIS TIPE-D DENGAN SUDUT IRIS S 36 53 DAN 66 TERSUSUN IN-LINE

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini membahas tentang karakteristik aliran pada silinder sirkular dan silinder tegak teriris tipe-D dengan sudut iris s 36 53 dan 66 dengan susuaan inline yang terdiri dari empat silinder dua di depan dan dua di belakang. Interferensi wake antara silinder tegak teriris pada bagian depan upstream cylinder mempengaruhi silinder tegak teriris pada bagian belakangnya downstream cylinder. Karakteristik aliran tersebut selanjutnya dibandingkan dengan silinder sirkular dengan konfigurasi yarig sama dengan silinder tegak teriris tipe D. Studi numerik 2D-Steady Flow viscous turbulen k-epsilon realizable dengan software FLUENT dan uji eksperimental dalam wind tunnel dilakukan untuk mendapatkan karakteristik aliran antara lain distribusi tekanan Cp Base pressure coefficient -Cpb koefisien drag Cd serta koefisien interferensi drag serta profil kecepatan aliran pada daerah wake di belakang downstream cylinder. Konfigurasi dari susunan in-line tersebut adalah jarak transversal TD 2 yang konstan dengan berbagai variasi jarak longitudinal PD 15 2 25 3 35 4 45 5 dan 55 pada bilangan Reynolds 69 x 104. Hasil eksperimental menunjukkan pada jarak transversal TD 2 biased flow memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap karakteristik aliran pada upstream maupun downstream cylinder baik pada silinder sirkular maupun silinder tegak teriris tipe-D yang diindikasikan dengan tidak simetrisnya distribusi tekanan Cp antara silinder atas dengan silinder bawah serta base pressure coefficient -Cpb koefisien drag Cd dan koefisien interference drag yang tidak berhimpit antara silinder atas dengan silinder bawah pada berbagai jarak longitudinal PD. Pada silinder sirkular pada PD 35 terjadi reduksi total drag namun pada silinder tegak teriris tipe D total drag meningkat seiring bertambah besarnya sudut iris. Perubahan karateristik aliran yang diakibatkan perubahan jarak longitudinal secara sistematis dianalisa dalam penelitian ini. ABSTRACT

This is a study on an investigation of flow characteristics over four circular cylinders and bluff body cut from circular cylinders D-type with cutting angle S 36 53 and 66 with in-line arrangement. Flow characteristics between two types of cylinders are compared with the same configurations. Numerical analysis 2D-Steady Flow with FLUENT software and experimental study in wind tunnel are examined in this investigation to analyze flow characteristics as follows pressure coefficient Cp base pressure coefficient -Cpb drag coefficient Ca interference drag coefficient and velocity profiles behind downstream cylinders. The configurations of in-line arrangement are some variations of longitudinal gap PD 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5 5 and 5.5 and constant transversal gap TD 2 are measured in Re 6.9 x 104. Experimental results show that at constant transversal gap TD 2 biased flow give significant effects on flow characteristics of upstream and downstream cylinder of circular cylinders and D-type cylinders with in-line arrangement which are indicated on asymmetrical of pressure coefficient and are not coincide base pressure coefficient drag coefficient and interference drag coefficient on upper and lower cylinder with longitudinal gap PD variations. Reduction of total drag on circular cylinders at longitudinal gap PD 3.5 but on D-type cylinders total drag increase with increasing cutting angle. The changes in these flow characteristics is caused by some variation longitudinal gap PD were systematically analyzed in this study.
