ADSORPSI SURFAKTAN DALAM PROSES PELAPISAN NIKEL SECARA ELEKTROLITIK

ABSTRAK

Surfaktan natrium lauril sulfat NaLS digunakan sebagai zat pembasah dalam proses pelapisan nikel secara elektrolitik. Elektrolisis dilakukan pada densitas arus 6 Adm2 selama 15 menit dengan variasi konsentrasi NaLS dan variasi temperatur. Banyaknya NaLS yang teradsorpsi pada masing-masing variasi konsentrasi NaLS dan temperatur dianalisa dengan cara spektrofotometri. Pola adsorpsi NaLS dapat diketahui dari bentuk kurva antara densitas adsorpsi sufaktan NaLS versus konsentrasi NaLS dalam larutan plating dan panas adsorpsinya dapat diperoleh dari persamaan Clausius Clapeyron. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pola adsorpsi surfaktan NaLS dalam proses pelapisan nikel secara elektrolitik merupakan pola adsorpsi isothermal Langmuir dan proses adsorpsi tersebut bukan merupakan proses thermal.


ABSTRACT

Sodium lauryl sulphate was used as wetting agent in electrolitically nickel plating. Electrolysis was operated at 6 Adm2 current density for 15 minute with variation of concentration and temperature. Quantity of sodium lauryl sulphate SLS that was adsorped at each concentration and temperature variation was analyzed by spectrophotometric. Type of SLS adsorption can be analyzed from a plot of SLS adsorption density versus SLS concentration and Calculation of heat of adsorption can be determined from Clausius Clapeyron equation. The result was shown that type of adsorption of SLS in electrolitically nickel plating is Langmuir-type adsorption and SLS adsorption process is non-thermal.
