INTERFERENCE STUDY OF MgII ON IRONII DETERMINATION WITH O-PHENANTROLINE BY SPECTROPHOTOMETRY UV-VIS METHOD

ABSTRAK
Besi merupakan logam transisi yang dapat membentuk senyawa kompleks dengan o-fenantrolin. Kompleks besi dengan o-fenantrolin membentuk senyawa Fefenantrolin32 dan menghasilkan warna merah jingga yang dapat diukur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. BesiIII direduksi menjadi besiII menggunakan pereduksi natrium tiosulfat. Senyawa kompleks Fefenantrolin32 terbentuk pada pH 45 sehingga ditambahkan larutan buffer asetat pH 45. Absorbansi maksimum kompleks ini didapatkan pada panjang gelombang 510 nm. Penambahan ion MgII 004 ppm pada larutan besiIII 5 ppm dapat mengganggu proses penentuan besi dengan menurunkan absorbansi. Prosen recovery dari besi diketahui 9099. Relatif standar deviasi RSD yang didapat sebesar 224 ppt dan koefisien variasi CV sebesar 0224.
ABSTRACT
Iron is a transition metal compounds that able form complexes with o-phenanthroline. Complex iron dan o-phenanthroline forming compound Fephenanthroline32 dan produces orange-red color that can be measured with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. IronIII is reduced to ironII using a reducing sodium thiosulfate. Complex compound Fe phenanthroline32 formed at pH 4.5 that added a solution of acetate buffer pH 4.5. The maximum absorbance of the complex is obtained at a wavelength of 510 nm. The addition of MgII in a solution of 0.04 ppm of ironIII 5 ppm iron can interfere with the process of determining the decrease of absorbance. Percent recovery of ironIII is 90.99. Relative standard deviation RSD is 2.24 ppt and coefficient of variation CV is 0.224.
