ABSTRAK

Tribe Malaxideae dikenal sebagai salah satu dari sedikit kelompok anggrek yang memiliki spesies terestrial dan epifit dan berkerabat dekat. Genus Malaxis kebanyakan tumbuh secara terestrial sedangkan genus Liparis tumbuh secara epifit. Anatomi dari genus Malaxis dan Liparis belum banyak dipelajari. Penelitian mengenai anatomi akar dan daun pada kedua genus yang berkerabat dekat ini perlu dilakukan. Pengamatan anatomi akar dan daun dilakukan dengan membuat sediaan mikroskopis menggunakan metode parafin dan sayatan langsung. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa perbedaan karakter anatomi pada daun dan akar antara anggrek epifit yang diwakili oleh genus Liparis dengan anggrek terestrial yang diwakili genus Malaxis. Karakteristik yang terlihat menonjol sebagai ciri anggrek epifit yaitu lapisan jaringan epidermis adaksial daun yang lebih tipis sebaran stomata terdapat pada kedua helaian daun dan lapisan epidermis akar tidak termodifikasi membentuk rambut akar. Karakteristik yang terlihat menonjol sebagai ciri anggrek terestrial yaitu lapisan jaringan epidermis adaksial yang lebih tebal sebaran stomata pada helaian daun bagian bawah saja dan lapisan epidermis akar termodifikasi membentuk rambut akar.


ABSTRACT

Malaxideae known as one of the few groups that have terrestrial and epiphyte species in great number. Both of the general have close genetic relationship but generally the life form are different. Most of Malaxis grown in terrestrial while Liparis grown epiphytic. Both of them are not well studied anatomically. Study about the root and leaf anatomy of both genus are need to be conducted. Root and leaf anatomy observation was conducted by making microscopic preparat using paraffin method and directly incision. The result of this study showed that there were some differences in anatomical characters in root and leaf between epiphytic orchids represented by Liparis and terrestrial orchids represented by Malaxis. Characteristic that stands out as epiphytic orchid characters are thinner adaxial epidermis tissue layer stomatal distribution on the both sides of leaf and root epidermis layer that unmodified form root hairs. Characteristic that stands out as terrestrial orchid characters are thicker adaxial epidermis tissue layer stomata only found on the abaxial side and root epidermis layer that modified forms into root hairs
