ABSTRAK

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara berkembang yang memiliki potensi untuk menghasilkan Waste energy yang begitu besar. Salah satu bentuk dari Waste energy yg dihasilkan di Indonesia adalah exhaust gas. Dengan adanya potensi Waste energy yang begitu besar tersebut maka dikembangkanlah suatu sistem Waste Heat Recovery untuk memanfaatkan kembali exhaust gas yang dihasilkan. Pada tugas akhir ini dilakukan desain sebuah Compact Heat Exchanger Louvered-Fin Flat-Tube dengan menggunakan data acuan actual dari jurnal yang disesuaikan untuk percobaan skala laboratorium. Selanjutnya Compact Heat Exchanger yang telah di desain akan diuji performanya dengan memberikan tiga variasi kecepatan exhaust gas yaitu kecepatan high 0.4 ms medium 0.3 ms dan low 0.2 ms. Prinsip kerja compact heat exchanger adalah menyerap energi panas yang melewati flat tube dan louvered fin sumber energi panas yang dihasilkan disimulasikan menggunakan burner dengan temperatur masuk udara melewati heat exchanger sekitar 275 oC. Hasil yang didapatkan dari studi eksperimen ini adalah dimensi dari compact heat exchanger adalah PxLxt 300x400x12 mm nilai heat transfer sisi gas maksimal 3.786 kW nilai heat transfer sisi air konstan 3.095 kW Effectiveness maksimal 0.549 NTU maksimal 1.004 overall heat transfer coefficient maksimal 10.303 Wm2.K dan 916TLMTD tertinggi 164.20 K.


ABSTRACT

Indonesia is a developing country that has great potential to produce Waste energy. One of Waste energy that is produced in Indonesia is the exhaust gas. With the great potential to produce Waste energy Waste Heat Recovery system are the best solution to recover Waste energy such as exhaust gas. In this final project I designed a Compact Heat Exchanger Louvered Fin Flat Tube using reference data from the actual journals customized for laboratory scale experiments. Furthermore Performance of Compact Heat Exchangers will be tested by giving three exhaust gas flowrate variations high speed 0.4 ms medium 0.3 ms and low 0.2 ms. The working principle of compact heat exchanger is to absorbs the heat energy which is passed through a flat tube and louvered fins the heat energy generated simulated by using a burner and the inlet exhaust gas temperatur approximately 275 oC. The results obtained from this experimental study are the dimension of the compact heat exchanger LxWxH 300x400x12 mm air-side heat transfer maximum 3786 kW the water-side heat transfer are constant at 3095 kW maximum Effectiveness 0.549 maximum NTU 1.004 overalls heat transfer coefficient maximum 10303 Wm2.K the highest 916TLMTD 164.20 K.
