PRODUKSI BIODIESEL DARI MINYAK DEDAK PADI TANPA KATALIS DENGAN AIR DAN METANOL SUBKRITIS

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan biodiesel secara in situ dari dedak padi dalam air dan methanol subkritis. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kemurnian dan yield biodiesel seperti suhu waktu reaksi dan penambahan gas CO2 akan dipelajari secara sistematis. Pada penelitian ini biodiesel berhasil didapatkan dari dedak padi tanpa menggunakan katalis dalam air dan metanol subkritis baik dengan penambahan gas CO2 sebagai co-solvent maupun tanpa penambahan CO2. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kandungan biodiesel kemurnian dan yield dari dedak padi dalam air dan metanol subkritis seperti waktu reaksi suhu pemanas dan penambahan CO2 telah dipelajari secara sistematis. Campuran dedak padi air dan metanol dengan perbandingan 5205 grammlml sebagai variable tetap dimasukkan kedalam reaktor hydrothermal yang dilengkapi dengan pemanas kontrol suhu dan pressure gauge kemudian diberi tekanan dengan gas CO2 sesuai dengan variable 0 3 dan 5 bar. Setelah suhu pemanas mencapai suhu yang diinginkan 175oC 200oC dan 225oC maka tube reactor dimasukkan kedalam pemanas. waktu reaksi mulai dihitung pada saat kondisi suhu dan tekanan berada pada kondisi subkritis dan dihentikan setelah waktu reaksi yang diinginkan 1 3 dan 5 jam. Produk dikeluarkan dari reaktor dan dipisahkan dari campuran dengan cara dibilas dengan menggunakan larutan n-hexane. Kemudian n-hexane bilasan dipisahkan dengan cara distilasi untuk memisahkan crude biodiesel dengan n-hexane. Crude biodiesel yang didapatkan kemudian dianalisa kandungan FFA dan FAMEnya. Biodiesel telah didapatkan dari dedak padi yang di proses tanpa menggunakan katalis dalam air dan metanol subkritis. Pada penambahan CO2 diperoleh FAME biodiesel yang lebih banyak pada semua variabel suhu dibanding dengan tanpa penambahan CO2.


ABSTRACT

This study aims to produce biodiesel in situ of rice bran in subcritical water and methanol. Factors that affecting the purity and yield of biodiesel such as temperature reaction time and the addition of CO2 will be studied systematically. In this study biodiesel from rice bran successfully obtained without the presence of a catalyst in subcritical water and methanol both with the addition of CO2 gas as a co-solvent or without the addition of CO2. Factors that influence the content of biodiesel purity and yield of rice bran in subcritical water and methanol are reaction time heating temperature and the addition of CO2 has been studied systematically. A mixture of rice bran water and methanol with a ratio of 5205 gmlml as a fixed variable introduced into the hydrothermal reactor that is equipped with heater temperature control pressure gauge and then it is pressurized with CO2 gas in accordance with the variable 0 3 and 5 bars. After the heating temperature reaches the desired temperature 175oC 200oC and 225oC the reactor tube is inserted into the heater. Reaction time starts counting when the temperature and pressure conditions are at subcritical and stopped after the desired reaction time 1 3 and 5 hours. Then obtained product is separated from the mixture by means rinsed with n-hexane. Furthermore n-hexane is separated by distillation to separate the crude biodiesel in n-hexane. Biodiesel has been obtained from rice bran in the process without the use of a catalyst in subcritical water and methanol. In addition CO2 obtained FAME biodiesel are much more on all variables compared with the temperature without the addition of CO2.
