EVALUATION IMPROVEMENT SAFETY BEHAVIOR OF WORKERS WITH A BEHAVIOR-BASED SAFETY METHOD OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES CASE STUDY SMALL MEDIUM ENTERPRISE OF UD AJI BATARA PERKASA MANDIRI NGINGAS SIDOARJO

ABSTRAK

Usaha Kecil Menengah UKM merupakah salah satu usaha yang menyerap 60 persen angkatan kerja di Indonesia. UKM di Indonesia terdiri dari berbagai jenis dan beragam risiko bahaya yang dapat ditimbulkan. UD Aji Batara Perkasa Mandiri ABP merupakan salah satu UKM logam di Desa Ngingas Sidoarjo yang memiliki tingkat risiko besar terhadap pekerjaan dan sering terjadi kecelakaan kerja. Kebanyakan kecelakaan kerja yang dialami disebabkan faktor unsafe behavior pekerja diantaranya ketidaktaatan penggunaan APD merokok di area kerja dan lain-lain. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan evaluasi terhadap aspek safety yang ada pada UKM dalam upaya perbaikan unsafe behavior dengan penerapan metode Behavior-Based Safety pada UD ABP. Metode ini berguna untuk meningkatkan nilai safety performance index dari pekerja UKM sebagai indikator behavior pekerja. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan antara lain menghitung error dengan metode SHERPA untuk penentuan departemen amatan risk analysis untuk identifikasi risiko bahaya departemen amatan selanjutnya mengidentifikasi unsafe behavior amatan yang menjadi dasar untuk observasi kondisi eksisting dengan Critical Behavior Checklist CBC. Dilakukan pula penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara kepada pihak terkait Root Cause Analysis untuk mengetahui akar penyebab unsafe behavior yang kemudian menjadi input dari rekomendasi perbaikan dan proses implementasi. Setelah proses implementasi dilakukan evaluasi pasca implementasi dan pengujian nilai safety performance index menggunakan uji statistik paired-t test. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah perubahan unsafe behavior pada departemen coating berdasarkan proses implementasi yang dilakukan berupa pemberian safety manual book kepada pekerja tetap penempelan tiga jenis poster dan pengadaan APD. Proses implementasi dilakukan selama satu bulan dengan hasil terjadi peningkatan nilai safety performance index sebesar 1183.


ABSTRACT

Small and medium enterprise SME is one of businesses which absorb 60 percent of labor force in Indonesia. SME operates in various forms. There are a big number of risks are posed due to these varieties. UD Aji Batara Perkasa Mandiri ABP is one of metal SMEs in Ngingas village Sidoarjo which has a high level of risk and results in frequent work accidents. Most workplace accidents are caused by worker unsafe behavior factor including disobedience of APD smoking the work area and others. This study evaluates the safety aspects that exist in SMEs in order to improve unsafe behavior. The improvement would be done by the application of Behavior-Based Safety method at UD ABP. This method is useful to improve the safety performance index of SME workers as indicator of worker behavior. This research was conducted with the SHERPA method for the determination of the department observations based on errors. The risk analysis used for the indentification of danger department observations. Then identifying unsafe behavior observation is the basis for the observation of existing conditions with Critical Behavior Checklist CBC. Also conducted questionnaries and interviews to related parties. The Root Cause Analysis to determine the root causes of unsafe behavior by which subsequently becomes the input of the recommendations for improvement and implementation process. After the process of implementation post-implementatiton evaluation and testing of the safety performance index value before and after the test by using paired-t test statistic. The result of this study indicates a need of behavior change at coating department. A behavior changed done by providing a safety manual book to permanent workers attatchment of three types of posters and procurement of APD. The implementation process is carried out for a month and has resuted in increase value of safety performance index by 1183.
