ANALISA PENGARUH TEMPERATUR DAN WAKTU TAHAN SINTERING TERHADAP IKATAN ANTAR MUKA PADA KOMPOSIT MATRIK LOGAM CU- 10WTSN DENGAN METODE METALURGI SERBUK

ABSTRAK

Komposit matrik logam termasuk material yang memiliki kombinasi sifat dari dua atau lebih material yang berbeda dengan material logam sebagai matrik. Salah satu aplikasi dari komposit ini yaitu sebagai material peluru frangible. Material yang dimaksud yaitu komposit Cu-10wtSn yang didesain agar memiliki sifat mudah terpecah menjadi beberapa bagian ketika menyentuh permukaan yang keras. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses pembuatan komposit yaitu metalurgi serbuk. Serbuk tembaga dan timah serta pelumas ZincStearat dicampur dengan magnetic steering. Kemudian dilakukan kompaksi dengan tekanan 600 Mpa. Sintering dilakukan dibawah atmosfer nitrogen dan temperatur 300 500 700 oC serta waktu tahan sinter 30 60 90 menit. Semakin tinggi temperatur sintering laju difusivitas semakin meningkat. Pada temperatur 300 oC terbentuk dua macam ikatan antar-muka yaitu ikatan antara Cu matrik dengan fase intermtalik Cu3Sn Cu6Sn5 dan sesama fase intermtallik. Pada temperatur 700 oC hanya terbentuk ikatan antar muka sesama fase intermetallicCu41Sn11 Cu81Sn21.Fase intermetalik yang terbentuk di antar muka komposit Cu-10Sn adalah Cu3Sn Cu6Sn5 Cu10Sn3 Cu41Sn11 dan Cu81Sn21. Pada waktu tahan 60 menit tidak terjadi ikatan antar muka karena adanya porositas. Komposit Cu-10Sn pada sintering temperatur 500 oC dan waktu tahan selama 60 menit sesuai untuk aplikasi peluru frangible.


ABSTRACT

Metal matrix composites including materials that have combination properties of two or more different material with metal as the matrix. One of composites application is used for frangible bullet materials. Its Cu-10Sn composite which is designed to have properties easily broken up into pieces when hit the hard surface. Manufacture method that used to make composite is powder metallurgy. Copper and tin powder with a little Zincstearat lubricant was mixed using magnetic steering. Then its compacted with pressure of 600 MPa. Sintering process was done under a nitrogen atmosphere and sintering temperature of 300 500 700 oC and holding time sintering is 30 60 90 minutes. Increasing in temperature sintering the diffusion rate increased. At temperature 300 oC there are two type of infacacial bonding can be formed interfacial bonding between Cu matrix and intermetallic phase Cu3Sn Cu6Sn5 and sesame intermetallic phase. At temperature 700 oC only sesame intermetallic phase Cu41Sn11 Cu81Sn21 bonding formed. Increasing in holding time pores size at interfacial bonding increases. Intermetallic phase that formed in interfacial bonding composites Cu-10Sn is Cu6Sn5 Cu10Sn3 Cu41Sn11 dan Cu81Sn21. Composites that sintered at 500 oC and holding time during 60 minutes is available for frangible bullets application.
