ANALISA TERMAL OIL COOLER PADA MESIN PRATT WHITNEY JT8D-15

ABSTRAK

Oil cooler adalah salah satu peralatan yang penting pada mesin P RA IT Whitney JT8D-15. Oil cooler ini berfungsi untuk mendinginkan oil pelumas dan memanaskan bahan bakar oil bersuhu 17fC didinginkan oleh bahan bakar bersuhu 35C. Dalam oil cooler dengan tipe shell and tube aliran oil berada dalam shell dan bahan bakar pada sisi tube. Kontak oil dan bahan bakar terjadi secara menyilang. Suatu analisa dilakukan dengan prinsip kesetimbangan massa dan energi dimana kalor berpindah dari oil ke bahan bakar. Pengambilan data diperoleh dari lapangan pada kondisi operasi dengan thrust 823 12088 13529 150941bs dijadikan acuan untuk menentukan kondisi operasi lainnya. Untuk mengetahui karakteristik dan unjuk kerja oil cooler pada kondisi operasi maka dilakukan analisis. Basil analisis menunjukkan bahwa effectiveness dar oil cooler cenderung meningkat sesuai dengan kenaikan thrust karena setiap peningkatan thrust diikuti dengan kenaikan laju aliran massa kedua fluid a yang melalui oil cooler. Nilai effectiveness maksimum adalah 0437 dengan laju alir massa oil 0966 kgdet. Penurunan tekanan yang terjadi juga mengalami peningkatan sesuai dengan peningkatan thrust. Penurunan tekanan maksimum sisi tube adalah 175.60208 Pa sedangkan untuk sisi shell adalah 36.174 7 Pa .


ABSTRACT

Oil cooler is an important equipment in PRAIT WHITNEY JT8D-15 engines. It has a function to cooling oil and heating fuel. Oil from the temperature 17 C is cooled by fuel of 35.flC. Oil cooler is a shell and tube type in which oilflow in the shell side and fuel in the tube side. The relative direction of both fluid flow is cross to each other. The analysis in this work is based on the mass and energy balance. The heat is transferred from oil to fuel. The data is collected from the field in the operational condition of 823 12088 13529 15094 Ibs of thrust. These condition will be used as references for other conditions. To find the characteristics and the performances oil cooler for the operational condition the analysis must be performed. The maximum effectiveness is 0.437 with 0.966 kgs mass flow of oil. The result shown that the effectiveness of oil cooler is increased in accordance with the thrust the mass flow rate of fluid is increased too. The pressure drop is increased when thrust is increased The maximum pressure drop is 175602.08 Pa in tube side and 36174. 7 Pa in shell side.
