STUDY EXPERIMENTAL PENCEGAHAN KOROSI BATAS BUTIR PADA OVERLAY WELDING STAINLESS STEEL 316-L DENGAN METODE PENDINGINAN CEPAT DAN PWHT

ABSTRAK

Pada pengelasan baja tahan karat stainless steel sering ditemukan terjadinya presipitasi karbida khrom. Presipitasi karbida khrom ini disebabkan karena proses pendinginan yang relatif lambat biasanya terjadi pada pendinginan udara. Presipitasi karbida khrom ini memacu terjadinya korosi inter granular intergranular corrosion yang menyerang batas butir pada struktur mikro. Proses percepatan pendinginan dilakukan dan di harapkan karbon C dan khrom Cr tidak sempat membentuk karbida CrxCy . Tujuan dan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh dan penyemprotan air dan pengaruh PWHT post weld heat treatment terhadap terjadinya presipitasi karbida khrom saat overlay welding Dalam penelitian kali ini dilakukan pengelasan SMAW terhadap baja karbon dengan elektrode E316L dan memberikan pendinginan berupa penyemprotan air pada bagian bawah. Cara lainya adalah dengan memanaskan kembali setelah pengelasan selesaipWHT kemudian menyemprotkan air pada hagian bawah Analisa terhadap hasil akhir eksperimen dilakukan dengan mengamati material secara mikro dan melakukan foto struktur mikro. Dan hasil foto struktur mikro dan analisa prosentase terjadinya karbida khrom bisa diperoleh bukti bahwa ada perbedaan kuantitas prosentase karbida khrom terhadap proses yang berbeda. Pada material 1water sprayterdapat 11 carbida material 2PWHT Water spray terdapat 17 carbida dan matenal 3tafX perlakuan terdapat 14carbida. Dan prosentase carbida tersebut dapat disimpulkqn bahwa water spray mempercepat penurunan suhu pada siklus termal. Sedangkan PWHT yang diikuti oleh waters pray memnerikan hasil sebaliknyalmrena kecepatan pendenginanan relatif lebih lambat dibanding pengelasan biasa.


ABSTRACT

In stainless steel welding often found chrom s carbide precipitation. It is caused by cooling rate which is relatively slow usually air cooling. Chroms carbide- precipitation accelerates intergranular corrosion to occur at grain boundary. Acceleration of cooling rate need to be applied to prevent carbon C and chrom Cr forming carbide CrxCy. Purpose of this experiment is to know the effects of water cooling water spray and PWHT post weld heat treatment of chroms carbide precipitation in overlay welding. in this experiment SMAW with 316L stainless steel electrode applied to carbon steel and the cooling given by spraying water from underside of the test piece for the first method The second test method applied is reheating after welding process finish PWHT then cooling the test piece by spraying water from underside. Analizing for the results of experiment are done by inspecting and taking pictures of the microstructure. From the photos of microstructure and analizing the fersentage of chroms carbides formed can be seen that there are differences of chroms carbides percentages for different methods. The test piece 1 with water spraY. cooling has 11 of carbides test piece 2 wah PWHT water spray has 17 carbides and test piece 3 without treatment has 14 carbides. From those percentages can be concluded that water spray accelerates temperatures cooling in thermal cycle. While PWHT followed by water spray giving the opposite result because the cooling rate is slower than general welding.
