ABSTRAK

Salah satu cara penanganan limbah plastik adalah dengan mencampurkan limbah plastik tersebut dalam minyak diesel untuk selanjutnya digunakan sebagai bahan bakar. Namun kendala yang dihadapi sampai saat ini adalah tingginya cloud point dari campuran tersebut sehingga sulit untuk dibakar. Pada penelitian ini cloud point dari campuran Polipropilen PP-High Speed Diesel HSD diturunkan dengan mengemulsikan campuran tersebut dimana PP yang digunakan adalah kemasan plastik. Eksperimen ini dilakukan dalam dua tahap eksperimen yaitu tahap pelarutan PP dalam HSD dan tahap emulsifikasi campuran PP-HSD dengan air. Proses emulsifikasi ini menggunakan surfaktan jenis Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid ABSA Sodium Alkyl Ethoxy Sulphate SAES Glicerine Tween 80 dan Anionic Soft. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa surfaktan jenis ABSA-Anionic soft menghasilkan emulsi yang stabil pada perbandingan 31. Heating value dari bahan bakar emulsi tersebut sebesar 8051.14 calg.


ABSTRACT

Mixture of Polypropylene PP waste plastic with High Speed Diesel HSD can be used as liquid fuel. However the mixture may give problem in combustion because of high cloud point. In this work the cloud point of PP waste plastic and HSD mixture was reduced by emulsifying the mixture with H2O and surfactant. The experiment was divided into two step first waste plastic in HSD was dissolved. Second emulsification of PP-HSD mixture with H2 Key word c O and surfactant using Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid ABSA Sodium Alkyl Ethoxy Sulphate SAES Glicerin Tween 80 and Anionic Soft as surfactant. The result shows that mixture of ABSA - Anionic Soft surfactant produced stable emulsion at surfactant ratio of ABSA Anionic soft 31. The Emulsified has still high heating value 8051.14 calg.
