Description:

A supply chain consists of many entities interacting directly or indirectly to fulfill a customerís request. There are five major drivers within the supply chain that de-termine its performance in terms of responsiveness and efficiency. These drivers are facilities, production, inventory, transportation and information. This final project tries to simulate the process that involving three out of five driv-ers of the performance of supply chain. The resource is steel used as material in building a ship, and this project will simulate the process flow, e.g. utilization of the machine shop, project duration, and decision making based on information given by the simulation results. The results will provide information for all enti-ties of supply chain the time estimation in building ships. The software as a tool in modeling and analyzing the process is Arena version 5.0. Simulation results shows that it took 1820.36 hours (75.85 days) to complete the process with 24 hours a day. For 8 hours work day, duration for the project is 227.545 days.

Sebuah rantai suplai terdiri dari berbagai hal yang berkaitan secara langsung mau-pun tidak langsung, yang bertujuan tentu saja untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pem-beli. Ada lima hal yang mendorong rantai supplai tersebut yang memberikan gambaran tentang kinerja dalam hal efektifitas dan efisiensi. Hal-hal yang menjadi pendorong kinerja tersebut adalah fasilitas, produksi, inventory, transportasi, dan informasi. Tugas Akhir ini mencoba membuat simulasi dari proses yang melibatkan tiga dari lima hal tersebut di atas. Bahan bakunya (material) adalah baja sebagai bahan dasar pembuat kapal dan Tugas akhir ini akan memodelkan proses tersebut dan mensimulasikannya untuk hal seperti pendayagunaan mesin-mesin di bengkel, durasi proyek sebagai hasil simulasi, dan pengambilan keputusan yang berhubun-gan dengan hasil yang diperoleh. Perangkat lunak yang digunakan adalah Arena versi 5. Hasil dari simulasi menunjukan bahwa memerlukan waktu 1820,36 jam untuk menyelesaikan proses dari model tersebut, atau sekitar 75,85 hari untuk satu hari sama dengan 24 jam. Jika satu hari kerja adalah 8 jam, maka waktu proyek adalah 227,545 hari
