PROSES PEMBUATAN GYPSUM DARI LIMBAH CALCIUM CARBIDA

PROCESS PRODUCTION OF GYPSUM FROM WASTE OF CALCIUM CARBIDA

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara mengkalsinasi limbah calsium carbide pada suhu 900oC selama 1 jam. 25 gram CaO ditambahkan air 50 ml diaduk hingga terbentuk CaOH2 kemudian direaksikan dengan asam sulfat 15 dengan perbandingan 10.9 1109 11.18 11.27 11.36 diaduk dengan kecepatan pengadukan 250 rpm. Setelah suhu tercapai 50oC baru dihitung waktu pengadukan selama 5 10 15 20 25 menit. Endapan dicuci sampai pH 6. Dikeringkan pada oven. Hasil gypsum dianalisa kadar CaO SO3 Berat gypsum terbaik didapatkan pada perbandingan 11.27 pada t 15 menit dengan berat 42.71 gram. Sedangkan untuk kadar CaO paling baik didapatkan pada perbandingan 11.27 pada t 10 menit dengan kadar CaO 33.93 sedang untuk CaSO dan Air terikat. 4.2H2O 94.53 untuk CaO dipasaran 33.93 sedang untuk CaSO4.2H2O94.53 dan pada phospo gypsum PT Petrokimia Gresik didapatkan CaO sebesar 32.48 CaSO4.2H2O 90.48 . Kadar SO3 paling baik didapatkan pada perbandingan 11.18 pada t 5 menit dan pada perbandingan 11.27 pada t 10 menit yaitu sebesar 44.59 untuk SO3 dipasaran 43.90 dan pada phospo gypsum PT Petrokimia Gresik didapatkan SO3 Kata Kunci Limbah Calcium carbida Gypsum 43.90 . Kadar air terikat yang paling baik didapatkan pada perbandingan 11.27 pada t 15 menit yaitu 20.40 sedangkan dipasaran 20.6 dan pada phospo gypsum PT Petrokimia Gresik didapatkan kadar air terikat 20.6 . Produk Gibs yang kita hasilkan sudah memenuhi standart ASTM dan SII 0866 83.


ABSTRACT

Calcium carbide waste is calcinated in 900 oC for 1 hour. And 25 grams of CaO is added by 50 ml of water stirred until CaOH2 is formed. And then it reacts with sulfuric acid 15 with 10.9 11.09 11.18 11.27 11.36 in ratio stirr it with stirring rate 250 rpm. After reaching 50 oC then calculate stirring time for 5 10 15 20 25 minutes. After washing the sediment until the acidity pH is 6 its dried in oven. Then gypsum is analyzed to find out the value of CaO SO3 The most optimum yield of gypsum is produced in ratio 11.27 for t 15 minutes which is yielded 42.71 grams gypsum. The best CaO contained in gypsum is 33.93 in ratio 11.27 for t 10 minutes and CaSO4.2H2O is 94.53 CaO is 33.93. CaO in market is 33.93 and CaSO4.2H2O yielded 94.53 and for phosphogypsum from PT Petrokimia Gresik has 32.48 CaO and yielded CaSO4.2H2O 90.48. The best contained SO3 is 44.59 yielded in ratio 11.18 for t 5 minutes and ratio 11.27 for t 10 minutes. For SO3 in market is 43.90 and for phosphogypsum from PT Petrokimia Gresik has 20.6 bonding water. Gypsum that we produced had been qualified ASTM standard and SII 0866-83.
