ABSTRAK

Perumahan Dinas TNI-AL Kenjeran memiliki potensi untuk menjalankan salah satu dari program reduce reuse recycling dan juga recovery 4R karena warganya memiliki kepedulian terhadap lingkungan yang cukup tinggi. Namun sistem pewadahan dan pengumpulan yang ada di daerah ini belum mendukung untuk dilaksanakannya program 4R tersebut. Tujuan dari dibuatnya tugas akhir ini adalah untuk merencanakan sistem pewadahan dan pengumpulan sampah yang tepat bagi daerah studi agar usaha reduksi sampah dapat terlaksana dengan baik. Untuk menentukan sistem pewadahan dan pengumpulan sampah yang tepat dilakukan pengamatan dan analisa terhadap sistem pewadahan dan pengumpulan eksisting serta analisa terhadap timbulan dan komposisi sampahnya. Timbulan dan komposisi sampah didapat dengan melakukan sampling kepada 100 rumah sebanyak tiga kali perulangan. Desain pewadahan dan pengumpulan sampah disesuaikan dengan persyaratan yang terdapat di SK SNI T-13- 1990-F. Dari hasil analisa timbulan sampah didapatkan prosentase sampah basah sebesar 8076 dan sampah kering sebesar 1924. Sistem pewadahan yang digunakan adalah dengan pemilahan sampah basah yang dapat dikompos sampah residu dan sampah kering. Desain wadah dan alat pengumpul sampah disertai dengan pemisahan sampah residu dan sampah kering. Komposter rumah tangga KRT dimanfaatkan sebagai wadah sampah basah yang dapat dikompos. Dengan pengumpulan sampah 8 triphari diharapkan proses pengumpulan sampah dapat dilaksanakan seefisien mungkin.


ABSTRACT

Solid waste management in Indonesian Navy residential area in Kenjeran region Surabaya can be potentially developed to apply the Reduce Reuse Recycling and Recovery 4R program due to the good environmental awareness of the community. However the current solid waste source storage and collection systems in this area have not been properly implemented. The objective of this research was to design a standard solid waste storage and collection systems in the study area which was based on waste reduction principle. The design of solid waste storage and collection systems was made by putting into consideration the current storage and collection systems. Additionally solid waste generation rate and composition were measured. Determination of the latter was performed by implementing three replicates of sampling campaigns in 100 houses. Design of solid waste storage and collection systems was made in accordance to the national standard for urban solid waste management SNI T-13-1990-F. The residential solid waste was composed of 8076 garbage and 1924 recyclable rubbish. Design of solid waste storage system was made by separating garbage that could be composted from the recyclable materials and residual solid waste. Design of solid waste storage and collection equipment was facilitated with a separator for separating the residual solid waste from the recyclable materials. A household composter or Komposter Rumah Tangga KRTwas planned to be used for composting the garbage in individual houses. With solid waste collection efficiency of 8 tripsday it was expected that the solid waste collection can be performed properly.
