PEMBUATAN FLOKULAN NON-IONIK DARI STARCH DAN ACRYLAMIDE DENGAN METODE GRAFTING TO SERTA UJI KARAKTERISTIK FLOKULASINYA

ABSTRAK

Sintesa flokulan Starch-graft-Polyacrylamide St-g-PAM dilakukan dengan metode grafting to. Sintesa non-terminated Polyacrylamide nt-PAM dilakukan dengan teknik polimerisasi larutan. Waktu coupling suhu coupling konsentrasi monomer dan konsentrasi inisiator dipelajari untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap persentase efisiensi graft GE persentase yield graft GY serta viskositas intrinsik. Polimerisasi dilakukan dalam reaktor gelas dengan suhu dijaga tetap. Metode grafting to dilakukan dengan mensintesa nt-PAM dan kemudian mencangkokkan nt-PAM pada starch. Sampel diuji flokulasinya terhadap limbah yang mengandung suspensi limbah kaolin dan besi serta analisa FTIR. Dari hasil penelitian kenaikan waktu coupling antara 0.5-3.5 jam menyebabkan GE dan GY mengalami penurunan. Kenaikan waktu coupling sampai 1 jam menyebabkan kenaikan viskositas intrinsik kemudian mengalami penurunan. Kenaikan suhu coupling sampai 45oC menyebabkan kenaikan GE dan GY kemudian mengalami penurunan. Kenaikan suhu coupling sampai 50oC menyebabkan kenaikan viskositas intrinsik kemudian mengalami penurunan. Kenaikan konsentrasi inisiator antara 0.054-0.324 M menyebabkan kenaikan GE dan GY. Kenaikan konsentrasi inisiator sampai 0.162 M menyebabkan kenaikan viskositas intrinsik kemudian mengalami penurunan. Kenaikan konsentrasi monomer sampai 0.96 M menyebabkan kenaikan GE GY dan viskositas intrinsik kemudian mengalami penurunan.


ABSTRACT

Starch-graft-Polyacrylamide St-g-PAM flocculant sinthetized by grafting to method.. Non-terminated Polyacrylamide nt-PAM sinthetized by solution polimerization technic.Coupling time coupling temperature monomer concentration and initiator concentration studied to show its effect to grafting efficiency percentage GE grafting yield percentage GY and intrinsic viscosity. Polimerization experiment prepared on an isothermal glass reactor. Grafting to method occured by sinthetize nt-PAM then couple its to starch. Test the samples flocculating characteristic in waste water containing caolinite and iron suspension. Its functional group identified by Fourier Ttansform Infra Red FTIR. The results showed that GE and GY decreased gradually while coupling time range 0.5-3.5 hour. Intrinsic viscosity increased remarkably with increased coupling time until 1 hour and then decreased gradually. GE and GY increased remarkably with increased coupling temperature until 45oC and then decreased gradually. Intrinsic viscosity increased remarkably with increased coupling temperature until 50oC and then decreased gradually. GE and GY increased gradually while initiator concentration range 0.054-0.324 M. Intrinsic viscosity increased with increased initiator concentration until 0.162 M and then decreased gradually. GE GY and intrinsic viscosity increased remarkably with increased monomer concentration until 0.96 M and then decrased gradually.
