PENGARUH PENGEROLAN DINGIN DAN TEMPERATUR ANNEALING TERHADAP KETAHANAN KOROSI INTERGRANULAR PADA AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL TIPE 304

Effect of Cold Roll and Annealing Temperatur to The Intergranular Resistance on Austenitic Stainless Steel 304

ABSTRAK

Stainless steel tipe 304 adalah suatu logam paduan yang mempunyai sifat tahan korosi baik sehingga banyak dipakai didunia industri terutama pada proses perlakuan panas Heat treatment. Permasalahan yang sering timbul adalah ketika melakukan proses perlakuan panas pada temperatur sensitisasi yaitu 400C 800C pada Stainless Steel tipe 304 akan mengakibatkan presipitasi karbida chrom pada batas butir. Sehingga daerah sekitar batas butir mengalami depletion chrom atau miskin kromium yaitu kurang dari 12 sebagai syarat baja menjadi tahan terhadap korosi apabila berada pada lingkungan korosif cenderung terjadi korosi batas butir intergranular corrosion. Derajat Pengerjaan dingin dan temperatur operasi dari suatu logam dapat mempengaruhi sifat mekanik dan juga ketahanannya terhadap korosi. Pada umumnya pengerjaan dingin dapat memperbaiki sifat mekanik yaitu kekuatan dan ketahanan lelah. Namun logam tersebut akan semakin peka terhadap korosi. Dalam penelitian ini dikaji pengaruh reduksi ketebalan temperatur annealing dan waktu penahanan terhadap ketahanan korosi logam AISI 304. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengerolan dingin dengan variasi reduksi area 20 40 dan 60. Kemudian dilakukan annealing pada variasi temperature 200C 400C 600C 800C dan 1000C yang masing-masing temperatur dilakukan penahanan selama 30 menit dan 60 menit. Setelah perlakuan tersebut dilakukan pengamatan stuktur mikro dan laju korosi. Metode imersi dan potensiodynamic digunakan untuk menghitung laju korosi AISI 304 dalam larutan practice B. Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa stuktur mikro sangat berpengaruh terhadap ketahanan korosi dari austenit stainless steel dalam hal ini yaitu AISI 304. Pada spesimen yang mengalami pengerjaan dingin dan annealing di bawah temperatur rekristalisasi maka tampak struktur mikronya berupa elongated-grain yang laju korosinya meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya reduksi ketebalan. Sedangkan untuk material yang mengalami pengerjaan dingin dan annealing diatas temperatur rekristalisasi maka terbentuk twin-boundary yang lebih tahan terhadap korosi intergranular.


ABSTRACT

Stainless steel type 304 is a metal alloy which is well corrosion resistant that widely used in industrial especially in heat treatment. Problems occurred when heat treatment at sensitized region 400 -800C stainless stee ltype 304 will precipitate chrom carbide in grain boundary. So the area around grain boundary will passing chrom deplezion or poor of chrome that is less than 12 as required for steel become resist to the corrosion while in the corrosive environment intergranular corrosion most occurred. Cold roll and operation temperatur of metalcan affect the mechanical properties and its reistance to corrosion. Generally cold roll can repair the mechanical properties that is strength and creep resistant. But those metal will be more sensitive to the corrosion In this research effect of reduction area annealing temperature and holding time to corrosion resistant of AISI 304 were studied. In this research cold roll were in reduction area variation of 20 40 and 60. Then annealing were in temperature variation of 200C 400C 600C 800C and 1000C. Each temperature is holded in 30 minutes and 60 minutes long time. After the process micro structure corrosion rate were observed .Imerse and potensiodynamic methode were used to count AISI 304 corrosion rate in the practice B solution. From this research known that micro structure is very affected to corrosion resistant of austenitic stainless steel in this case AISI 304. speciment with cold rolling and annealing under recrystalization temperature showed elongated grain microstructure which the corrosion rate increase by the increasing of reduction area. While for material with cold roll and annealing higher than recrystalization temperature formed twin boundary thats more resistance to intergranular corrosion
