PIROLISIS GAMBUT MENJADI BAHAN BAKAR GAS

ABSTRAK

Kebutuhan energi di Indonesia semakin meningkat seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi ilmu pengetahuan dan penduduk. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan energi tersebut minyak bumi memegang peranan yang sangat penting disusul oleh gas alam air batu bara dan energi panas bumi. Berdasarkan pada kenyataan bahwa minyak bumi merupakan sumber daya alam yang tidak dapat diperaharui maka kiranya perlu dicari sumber daya lain sebagi pengganti energi minyak bumi. Indonesia mempunyai lahan gambut terbesar nomer empat di dunia. Untuk energi potensi gambut di Indonesia sangat cerah untuk itu kiranya perlu dicari suatu cara memanfaatkan potensi gambut tersebut sebagai sumber energi. Salah satu cara yaitu dengan proses pirolisis untuk mengubah gambut menjadi bahan bakar sintetis. Bahan baku yang dipakai adalah gambut dari Kalimantan yang mempunyai kandungan kalor sebesar 4888 KcalKg. Pirolisis dilaksanakan dalam suatu reaktor yang dilengkapi dengan tangki pengumpan pemanas listrik pendingin dan penampung hasil. Setelah reaktor mencapai suhu yang diinginkan gambut diumpankan ke dalam reaktor. Hasil tar dan gas ditampung dalam tempat terpisah. Variabel yang dipelajari mencakup waktu suhu ukuran partikel . Pirolisa gambut menghasilkan char tar dan gas. Makin tinggi suhu tar yang diperoleh akan turun sedangkan gas yang diperoleh akan bertambah. Semakin kecil ukuran partikel maka hasil gas yang diperoleh semakin besar. Hasil maksimal gas diperoleh pada ukuran partikel 814 mesh pada suhu 800 0 Celcius.


ABSTRACT

The demand for energy in Indonesia increases steadily with developments of technology science and growth of population. To fulfill this demand petrolium plays the most impotrant role followed by natural gas water coal and geothermal energy. Based on the fact that petroleum is unrewable source so it is necessary to find the others energy source. The peat land area in Indonesia is the fourth largest in the world. As an energy source peat has great potency in Indonesia . According to the fact it is necessary to find a method for using peat potency as energy source. Pyrolisis process convert peat to synthetic fuels. Peat from Kalimantan is used as raw material. It has caloric value 4888 Kcal kg. The pyrolisis is carried in reactor which provided with hopper electric heater coolers and product receivers. After the reactor reached the desired temperature peat was introduced . The liquid and gas products were colected in separate receviers. Variabel studied include time temperatue particle size. The gas product increase of particle size. The maximum gas yield was obtained at particle size 8 14 mesh and 800 0 celcius.
