ABSTRAK

Biodiesel adalah bahan bakar alternatif yang masih jarang digunakan khususnya di bidang otomotif. Spesifikasi engine diesel yang ada saat ini kebanyakan didesain untuk bahan bakar solar. Untuk menggunakan bahan bakar biodiesel diperlukan beberapa perubahan pada settingan engine. Salah satunya adalah perubahan pada timing injeksi. Pengujian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perubahan timing injeksi terhadap unjuk kerja dan emisi gas buang engine diesel multisilinder. Pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan pengujian kelompok kontrol dan kelompok uji. Kelompok kontrol adalah unjuk kerja dari engine standar dengan bahan bakar solar. Sedangkan kelompok uji adalah unjuk kerja engine dengan bahan bakar biodiesel CPO 30 B30 dan dengan variasi timing injeksi retard dan advance 40 20 . Pengujian akan dilakukan dengan engine Isuzu Panther C233 dan dengan pembebanan Water Brake Dynamometer buatan VEB Machinenwerks type D4. Pengujian dilakukan di Laboratorium Motor Pembakaran Dalam Teknik Mesin FTI ITS. Dengan pengujian ini didapatkan perubahan unjuk kerja dan emisi gas buang yang lebih jelek daripada engine diesel multisilinder berbahan bakar solar. Unjuk kerja terbaik biodiesel didapatkan pada timing injeksi advanced 20 dengan persentase penurunan daya torsi bmep sfc effisiensi thermal dan soot masing masing 10.24 22.71 22.71 -22.15 14.89 dan 51.69.


ABSTRACT

Biodiesel is a fuel that rarely used especially in automotive technology. Many engines are desgined to use diesel oil. Regular engine can use biodiesel with a few changes on its setting. Changes on injection timing is one of them. This experiment has aim to measure the effects of injection timing on diesel engine performance especially multicylnder engine. On the previous research it is said that biodiesel use in diesel engine will decrease the engine performance. In this experiment performance of biodiesel fueled engine is compared with diesel oil fueled one. There are two groups in this experiment control group and tested group. Control group is diesel oil fueled engine with standard timing injection. Tested groups are biodiesel fueled engine with standard advanced and retarded timning injection. Experiment was done with Isuzu Panther C233 engine connected to water brake dynamometer VEB type D4 at Fuel and Internal Combustion Engine Laboratory FTI ITS. The result of this experiment is diesel oil fueled engine performance is better than biodiesel fueled one in tested timing injections. But the best biodiesel fueled engine performance is found on 2 degree advanced timing injection with decreasing percentage of power torque bmep sfc thermal efficiency and soot as 10.24 22.71 22.71 -22.15 14.89 and 51.69.
