Berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI No. 416PERIX1990 dan Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan RI No. 907MENKESSKVII2002 yang menyatakan bahwa konsentrasi E.coli didalam air minum harus nol oleh karena itu air yang didistribusikan harus melewati proses desinfeksi terlebih dahulu. Disinfectant yang umum digunakan yaitu chlor tetapi karena chlorinasi ini mempunyai disinfectant by product berupa Trihalomethane THM maka diperlukan alternatif pengganti proses disinfeksi. Fotokatalis merupakan suatu proses yang mempercepat reaksi melalui penambahan katalis UVTiO2 dengan bantuan sinar UV. Jenis sinar UV yang digunakan yaitu black light dengan panjang gelombang 364 nm dan juga menggunakan lampu 20 watt. Jenis katalis TiO2 yang digunakan yaitu TiO2 P-25 degussa 80 anatase dan 20 rutile. Parameter yang diukur adalah bakteri Escherichia coli E.coli. Variasi yang digunakan yaitu beban permukaan air dan ukuran katalis. Beban permukaan air yang digunakan yaitu 37 cm3cm2.menit 22 cm3cm2.menit dan 1375 cm3cm2.menit dan ukuran butiran katalis yang digunakan yaitu 300m 600 m dan 850 m. Dosis katalis yang dibubukan yaitu 5 gl dan intensitas lampu yang digunakan yaitu 9524 . 10-7 wattcm2. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu beban permukaan air yang paling optimum yaitu beban permukaan air terkecil dengan waktu kontak terlama 1375 cm3cm2.menit dan 40 menit serta ukuran katalis yang paling efektif dalam penurunan bakteri yaitu 300 m. Efekfitas katalis TiO2 yaitu sebesar 9999999676.


Based on the rule of RI Health Minister No. 416PERIX1990 and decision of RI Health Minister No. 907MENKESSKVII2002 that the E.coli concentration in the water must be zero therefore the water distributed must be disinfected before. Disinfection which commonly used is chlorination and because it has disinfectant by product Trhalomethane THM so another alternative is needed to subtitute it. Photocatalyst is a process which makes the reaction faster by adding catalyst UVTiO2 with UV irradiation. The type of UV irradiation is black light with wavelength of 364 nm and also of 20 - watt lamp. The catalyst that used is TiO2 P-25 degussa 80 anatase and 20 rutile. The Parameter measured is Escherichia coli E.coli bacteria. The variations used are over flow rate and the size of granul TiO2. Over flow rates that used are 37 cm3cm2.minute 22 cm3cm2.minute and 14 cm3cm2.minute and the sizes of granul TiO2 that used are 300m 600 m dan 850 m. Dose of catalyst used is 5 gl and intensity of lamp is 9524 . 10-7 wattcm2. The results of these experiment for the optimum overflowrate is the smallest one with the longest detention time of 14 cm3cm2.minute and 40 minutes detention time and also the optimum size of granul TiO2 in inactivation microorganism is 300m. The efectiveness of catalyst TiO2 is 9999999676.
