PENGUJIAN KETAHANAN MOTOR DIESEL DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN BAHAN BAKAR BIOSOLAR

ENGINE DURABILITY TEST USING BIOSOLAR

ABSTRAK

Diketahui secara umum bahwa uji durability yang dilakukan oleh engine manufacture menggunakan bahan bakar yang lazim dipakai antar lain solar bensin. Dengan diproduksinya biosolar oleh Pertamina yang merupakan bahan bakar alternatif diperkirakan belum ada pengujian durability dengan menggunakan bahan bakar tersebut. Pengujian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh masukan durability engine. Dalam melakukan pengujian durability ada dua cara yang digunakan. Pertama pengujian laboratorium dengan menggunakan engine test bed atau chasis dinamometer. Pengujian laboratorium menggunakan engine test bed atau chasis dinamometer mengikuti prosedur yang diberikan oleh Engine Manufacture Association EMA. Kedua adalah on road durability test. Tugas akhir ini menggunakan metode engine test bed dimana engine diujikan menggunkan bahan bakar solar dan biosolar. Masing-masing bahan bakar melalui serangkaian pengujian pada beban yang telah diatur selama 100 jam. Variabel yang digunakan sebagai penilaian adalah banyaknya deposit pada komponen engin permukaan piston leher katup dan cylinder head. Variabel ketahanan lain adalah analisa properti pelumas yang dipergunakan pada dua kondisi pengujian secara fisika dan kimiawi serta kondisi fisik dari komponen metal jalan. Dari hasil pengujian akhirnya diketahui bahwa motor diesel berbahan bakar biosolar mempunyai durability yang lebih bagus dibanding yang berbahan bakar solar.


ABSTRACT

For the time being its generally known that engine manufacture have an engine durability test using the most commonly fuel e.g. diesel fuel gasoline. Since Pertamina produces biodiesel as an alternative fuel it is predicted that there are no engine durability test using it yet. This engine durability test purposes to gain reference of durability when the engine driven by biodiesel. There are two methods regarding the procedure of engine durability test. Firstly test which held at the laboratory using engine test bed or chasis dynamometer regarding the procedure of Engine Manufacture Association EMA. The second one is namely on road durability test. This final project refer to engine test bed method where the engine tested using both of ordinary diesel fuel and the newest developed one biodiesel. Each of the fuel will be run at the varied condition considering the adjusted load of the 100 hours operation. The variable that set to be compared measurement are amount of deposit at apparatus that is at piston surface valve neck and cylinder liner. The other durability variable is analysis from lubricating oil content chemical and physically at the both condition test. From the engine durability test result its figured out that engine driven by using biofuel has better durability compared the engine driven using the commonly diesel fuel.
