ABSTRAK

Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pitting corrosion pada kekuatan baja SS41 yang merupakan jenis baja yang banyak digunakan di industri perkapalan. Dalam penelitian ini dibuat spesimen tarik yang telah diberi pitting buatan. Spesimen tersebut dibagi menjadi 2 tipe. Tipe pertama divariasikan berdasarkan DOP degree of pitting intensity . Tipe kedua divariasikan berdasarkan letak pits overlap . Pengujian tarik untuk spesimen tipe kedua juga disimulasikan dengan metode elemen hingga. Dari hasil penelitian spesimen tipe pertama diketahui bahwa dari segi kekuatan statis kekuatan statis spesimen dengan DOP 52 masih lebih tinggi dari kekuatan statis spesimen dengan pengurangan ketebalan sebesar 20 tanpa DOP dan penghitungan berdasarkan pengurangan CSA . Melalui simulasi pengujian tarik dengan software ANSYS diketahui bahwa letak antar pits sebesar 4 mm mempunyai tegangan maksimum yang paling kecil 162.37x106 Nm2. Hal ini sesuai dengan kemampuan spesimen tersebut untuk menerima beban. Spesimen overlap 4 mm mampu menerima beban yang paling besar. Perbedaan tegangan maksimum terjadi karena perbedaan geometri tiap spesimen.


ABSTRACT

This study is made to investigate the effect of pitting corrosion on the strength of SS41 steel. SS41 steel is the most common type of steel which is being used in building a ship. In this study tensile test was being used to study the effect of pitting corrosion. Artificial pitting will be deployed to each of tensile test specimen. Specimens which were being used separated into two types. First types were variated according to their DOP degree of pitting intensity that is area of pitted surface compared with total area of specimen surface. Second types were variated according to pits position overlap . This second types has the same DOP that is 9.04. Tensile test for second types also simulated by finite element method. After the test from static strengths point of view the strength of specimen with DOP up to 52 is strongest than specimen with 20 reduction of thickness has no DOP and according to reduction of CSA . From the simulation of second types pits position 4 mm has the lowest maximum stress 162.37x106 Nm2. Specimen overlap 4 mm which has the lowest maximum stress also has the highest ability to restrain a load. The difference in maximum stress occur because of the diffrence in geometry shape for each specimen.
